Picking a mens fragrance for the first time

Thread Starter
Hey, I'm 22 in college looking for a good mens fragrance that works well during both day and night.
I like the smell so far of Spicebomb, YSL L'homme, terre d'hermes, voyage d'hermes, burberry london, and burberry touch. I also like tom ford Grey Vetiver although I think that others probably think it will make me smell like I'm a lot older. (I really don't know too many fragrances)

I'm looking for suggestions, either from my list or not. I don't want something that will make people pass out when I get on the elevator with them.

I don't really want anything more than $110-120

Welcome!

I don't know why you think Grey Vetiver would make you smell older. It is a fresh, modern vetiver. I like vetivers a lot, they're fresh, durable, but elegant enough to work in most occasions. So I would go with that.

Terre d'Hermes is probably the smoothest of the lot, perhaps a touch uninspiring, but it works well. If you like things on the fresh side, I'd also add YSL Rive Gauche, a fresh fougere. If you like sweeter, I'd say you can try the very elegant and warm Chanel Egoiste (the regular egoiste, not the platinum egoiste).

Burberry London and Carbone de Balmain are two that might work for you.

Tom Ford Grey Vetive has this fresh and soapy edge which will make it perfect for your age.. I'm older than you so I prefer Encre Noire where the Vetiver smells more natural and spicier. Give that a try, notice the difference and see what I mean. In fact you might enjoy it even more.

Remember: Don't worry what others may think of you... stay true to yourself, be confident and decent girls will appreciate you for that.. Welcome to BN and enjoy the experience

Terre d'Hermes would make an excellent choice from your list (or otherwise), IMO.

Be a step above those other 22 year olds who are generally going toward the gourmand scents. Wear Terre d'Hermes.

I would go for L'homme for your age/situation. Its warm, usually noticeable to others, but never overpowering. You can branch out later.

Listen to this guy - he's right.

Wear something that you really like and be confident about it (and for the record, I don't believe there's any such thing as "age appropriate" when it comes to fragrance; if you like it, it's good enough). Also, nobody will pass out if you go easy on the trigger. And your choices are all really good, so just go for the one you like best for now.
