The Disintegration Loops by William Basinski

A friend of mine gave me a copy of this not too long ago with a bunch of other ambient stuff. It lay on my desk at home. I never really bothered giving it a proper listen. Just had way too much music to go through. I decided to pop it into my iPod today after reading the 10/10 review on Pitchfork. It just totally blew me away. Almost at a loss for words. This is a masterpiece.

Heavy stuff. Definitely something not to listen to when you're off your meds. I never got into Basinksi as much as others have, although some of his newer stuff that I've heard has a nice psychedelic vibe to it.

I can't get over dlp 1.1 & dlp 3. Both are so immensely gorgeous. I wouldn't say I'm a fan myself. This is my first listening to anything he has done. Really heavy stuff as you said. Just one loop through out for the most part, but they're really emotional.

I just got started with William Basinski. I really like The Disintegration Loops series. My friend also passed on Melancholia which I haven't had the pleasure of listening to yet. But will explore.

Crazy good collection of outtakes from the Exile, entirely finished songs, I have no idea why this stuff wasn't given a proper release.
