These days I'm becoming more and more enthusiastic about amber-centered fragrances, and I'm keen to hear what your favorites are in this sweet and spicy category. There are so many good amber scents out there, but which one(s) do you enjoy the most or consider the best example(s) of this oriental note? Maybe I didn't even list your favorite?
My own vote goes to the incredibly rich, classy and balanced Ambre Précieux just ahead of brilliant spicy Ambre Sultan...

Ambre Sultan reigns supreme.

I don't find Ambre Narguile very ambery. Its in the name, but I don't get that when I smell it. It may have vanilla, benzoin, etc. but the overall effect is gourmand to me rather than amber.

l voted for Ambra Mediterranea, but Amber Absolute & Ambra Aurea come close.

l would also give a special mention to Ambra Nera by Farmacia SS. Annunziata; this one deserves a lot more love than it gets.

Ahhhh amber one of my least favorite fragrance notes.

Bond no. 9: NY Amber and Harrods Amber are the only amber dominated fragrances I have smelled and I don't like the feeling it gives me.....

But those are two suggestions for those who haven't tried.

Thanks for participating, everybody! It's been really interesting to follow the voting, and it seems Ambre Sultan is a pretty clear winner ahead of L'Air du Désert Marocain, Ambre Précieux, and Amber Absolute. I can't say the top three-to-four surprised me very much - I am, however, quite impressed with the solid performance of V.V. Ambra Mediterranea given its very limited distribution and availability. At the same time, I am surprised to see especially Ambre 114 and Ambre Russe getting significantly fewer votes than I would have expected considering the amount of love and admiration they receive in posts, threads, and reviews here on BN and elsewhere. Very interesting.

This is the best amber out there IMO. Personally I found Ambre Precieux extremely dull, and Ambre Sultan's actual amber wasn't at all as lush as I had hoped - both heavily overrated. But that's just me being grumpy

Good point! Although Ambre Narguille is my favourite fragrance of those listed, it doesn't actually smell that much like amber. From what i've smelt 114 is my prefered choice.
