Best La Collection Privée Christian Dior Scent?

Thread Starter
I've ordered Leather Oud so far, any others I should check out?
I like their Vetiver, the Ambre Nuit is nice as well.
I have the Bois d'Argent. It is a classy fragrance which my lady also enjoys.
I tested the range pretty extensively on a recent trip to HK, and besides Leather Oud (I bought that one), I think Bois d'Argent and Oud Ispahan are the best.

Oud Ispahan is too similar to other rose/aoud combos, so if you own Black Aoud, NdN etc you can skip it, but it's still a lovely frag.

If you like patchouli, also check out that one - I'm not really a patch fan but Dior's one rather surprised me. Pretty damn good.

Ambre Nuit, my favourite fragrance of all time They really have some great scents in this private collection, give them all a try if you can.
I own Eau Noire, great if you like immortelle. I also like Mitzah a lot (amber, patch, warm). And as others have said, Oud ispahan is a classic rose oud combo.

Granville

I like Bois D`argent and Mitza.

Ambre Nuit and Vetiver are definitely worth trying. Oud Ispahan is ok, well done for sure, but somewhat unnecessary given others that do the rose oud better.
So far, Leather Oud for me, though I enjoy Ambre Nuit and Eau Noir.
Personal favorite: Granville.

Also like: Leather Oud, Oud Ispahan, Vetiver - it's a good solid line overall IMO.

where did you order it from? You should have called the Dior Store in LV and they would have sent you samples of the entire line.
Vétiver is my favorite, followed by Patchouli Imperial and Ambre Nuit. Also liked Granville and New Look 1947.
I've only sampled a few, but Oud Ispahan is my favourite of them so far, with Leather Oud a very close second.
The only ones that i tried is the ones that I own a large decant, Leather Oud and Oud Ispahan.

I like them both.
Tried both Cologne Royale and Granville. Both really spoke to me, though I tested neither on my skin, only on paper. Judging from that, both had excellent longevity and smelt great. Pondering pulling the triggers on both when visiting London in January.

At least try those out. Leather Oud and Oud Ispahan are also recommended from several basenoters. In addition, check out Alfaroms blog where he perfectly and masterfully describes and reviews the Dior priv range. It's great reading.

I really like this line. I have tried them all and think there are some gems here. I have Leather Oud. The other three that impressed me the most were Vetiver..Ambre Nuit...and Patchouli Imperial.

The best? Granville

Granville
Vetiver
Patchouli Imperial

Very nice collection.

I like
Oud Ispahan (a blend of oud oil and oud wood)
Vetiver - a classic
Mitzah - spices and amber
Leather Oud - Animalic Oud wood
Patchouli Imperial - very wearable patchouli

My favorites from the line are Ambre Nuit, Oud Ispahan, and Eau Noire. (The Eau Noire is very heavy on the immortelle, though; if you're not a fan of that note, you almost certainly will not like Eau Noire.) Cologne Royal is pretty good too, but not FBW.

leather oud
eau noire
vetiver

A little off topic but can anyone tell me if any U.S department stores carry the la collection privee line?
No! But you can call an order from the Dior boutique in Las Vegas. It's located in Crystal's mall or you can order it online from dior's site.

I don't know if they'll ship to Canada And if they do, they won't be at fault if the bottle is taken by customs or is lost.

Eau Noire.

Love Ambre Nuit, Leather Oud, and Mitzah.

Ambre Nuit

I respect Eau Noire and Leather Oud for what they do but I don't find them easily wearable.

Bergdorf Goodman and selected Neiman's and Saks now offer the full Privee line.
Of the few I've tried I like these the best although I'm not sure how wearable Mitzah is, it is special.

Ambre Nuit is quite nice and is recommended.

The others in the line did not really click with my tastes, save in part, Granville, that smelled incredible on paper and at first on skin, but then it turned into something completely different in the heart notes after the top notes quickly dissipated; and what it turned into was an astonishing disappointment. Too bad on that one in particular, because the top notes were some of the best I have ever smelled.

Its difficult to answer that question; there are real GEMS in this line like already stated here .
So Ihave 4 of them, but still not satisfied which is one of my nasty features.

When I was in the Dior Boutique in Brussels every scent was gorgeous, I mean ,the surroundings were perfect,a French model ,she was helping me all the way out;

The so much sought after fragrance Cologne Blanche is re- modeled or whatever and now features as Cologne Royale in this line;only the mysticity around this long lost fragrance is worth visiting the Boutique!

Then: their latest, Grand Bal , I mean , who would NOT take the Lady Model in their arms and dance away iund the chandeliers in the Dior Boutique?
Even I ,who at the time wore my Magnum boots under my worn jeans ,could hardly resist.
But there was this James or who-ever in the boutique , a Maitre D whose sharp eye-control kept everything under the watch,so ,even a faint whimsical moment of " may i have this dance" would 've been knocked down by your own feeling of guilt.....;
let me move on.

I have Ambre Nuit & Mitzah , my first conquerings, bought at Harrod's ; if in London,Go There!!
And take your purse .
I have Leather Oud ,my fav, and Eau Noire, which is rather brill.
Missing are: Oud Ispahan & Vetiver.

Sorry to read in this thread that the midnotes of Granville are so disappointing because the top is fabulous!

To conclude: i think Privee a fantastic line, and anxiously waiting for the net one!

Have a nice day,

Does anything in this collection resemble Dior Homme (like Chanel's les Exclusifs Bois des Iles is to Egoiste)?
I have Leather Oud and Granville. Vetiver is next.

I bought Eau Noir when it launched in London. Rather challenging, IMO, but i enjoyed it to the last drop, nevertheless.

Newharleem:

there's nothing I can think of that's close to DH. Eau Noire is also played on the contrast between a sweet, gourmand note and a fresh, inedible one, but in this case it's immortelle rather than choco-coffee and lavender rather than iris, and the final effect is quite different, Eau Noire being both fresher in the top and thicker and sweeter in the drydown.

Thanks for the info. Eau Noire sounds interesting. I just added it on my sample list.

No

I'm assuming you've smelled other scents closely linked to DH, like Shalimar Parfum Initial by Guerlain & Power by Kenzo.

Eau Noire is the sh*t. Wonderful stuff.

Quick question for you guys - does the 200 ml also come with a sprayer, or are those splash bottles only? I'm pondering the 125's for myself, but my girlfriends brother is starting to get into fragrances, and I'm wondering if I should ask him if he wants to get in on some split action. He's not really interested in original bottles while I am, so this could be a good deal for both of us.

The leather oud 250ml bottle I have comes with a sprayer.

What's the price on each bottle size of the Privee line? Also, does each purchase come with samples (ex 5ml bottle samples) at say the Dior NYC shop and/or the Bergdorf Goodman in NYC?
