G., I think the Cuir de Russie is from the same ex-BNer. Anyway, not my cup either!
A grey Monday here and only brightened up by strong espresso and Jicky Extrait.
Best to all
L, it's no secret that i'm not a big fan of the house of guerlain and i
LOVE chanel cuir de russie, but this is something else! completely different level! this is the godmother of all cuir de russie perfumes, past, present and future. you know the expression 'from another era'? it applies to all sorts of levels when it comes to guerlain cdr. nothing like it.

Danny - I've tried Guerlain's CdR too (also thanks to a wonderful BNer). As a fan of Russian leathers, I was fully expecting to love it. Sadly, I found it to be too loaded with birch-tar for my tastes. At least my Paypal account breathed a sigh of relief
Bois des Iles (EdT) today.
Best to all.
yes, absolutely right, it has quite a bit more birch tar but this is what makes it so wonderful. i've tested it side by side with chanel's cdr, both parfum and edt, there is just no comparison (imo). of course, it's all a matter of taste. impossible to find, sadly. i can only say "thank god i've crossed paths with this wonderfully generous person who gave me the chance to try it, at least once!"
