today is a special day. i'm wearing guerlain cuir de russie. thanks to the amazing generosity of an ex basenoter which i've had the sheer luck of meeting, completely by accident i might add.
it's otherwordly. literally. this is what i imagine the tsars would've worn.

Morning All,

Another Monday is upon us. I hope it finds everyone well.
Danny - I've tried Guerlain's CdR too (also thanks to a wonderful BNer). As a fan of Russian leathers, I was fully expecting to love it. Sadly, I found it to be too loaded with birch-tar for my tastes. At least my Paypal account breathed a sigh of relief
Bois des Iles (EdT) today.
Best to all.

Good morning gentlemen, and ladies!

Quietly testing Volutes edt, from a sample, in my day off. Warm and serene, though nothing too original...
Have a nice Monday

Happiest Birthday, dear PerfumedLady! I hope you are indulging with some nice perfume, food and drinks.
G., I think the Cuir de Russie is from the same ex-BNer. Anyway, not my cup either!
A grey Monday here and only brightened up by strong espresso and Jicky Extrait.
Best to all

Hello everyone!

I'm in vintage Gucci No1 this morning. Y'all have a fantastic day!

PerfumedLady - Happy happy birthday to you!! I hope it's a very special one, filled with many fragrant gifts, friends, hugs, and cake! XOXO

gandhajala - you seem to be feeling a bit more chipper this morning - so glad to hear it! Those terrifying bar bills can often take days to get over.

L, it's no secret that i'm not a big fan of the house of guerlain and i LOVE chanel cuir de russie, but this is something else! completely different level! this is the godmother of all cuir de russie perfumes, past, present and future. you know the expression 'from another era'? it applies to all sorts of levels when it comes to guerlain cdr. nothing like it.

yes, absolutely right, it has quite a bit more birch tar but this is what makes it so wonderful. i've tested it side by side with chanel's cdr, both parfum and edt, there is just no comparison (imo). of course, it's all a matter of taste. impossible to find, sadly. i can only say "thank god i've crossed paths with this wonderfully generous person who gave me the chance to try it, at least once!"

OK--all this talk is making me crave a leather scent. Today I'll go with Bandit. The Guerlain sounds Fabulous! but I have never had the opportunity. Also, the Chanel is unavailable here. Oh well.

It seems several people have been impressed with this iris, definitely worth trying. I think Mr. Monegal has a sample program going now. Here's the info:

The "discovery size" is 2 ml and the prices including shipping are:

1 sample = 5 EUR
7 samples = 25 EUR
14 samples = 50 EUR

Payment is via PayPal, you can place your order by e-mailing info@ramonmonegal.com.

Hope that helps.

A very Happy Birthday to Perfumed Lady and a CM cake!

Oh, you sweet darlings, thank you! I hope you all know that I love you to pieces! You really know how to make a gal feel special. I've seen Chanel cakes before (even had a No.5 cake in my inbox this morning, (((Jon))) ) but I've not seen a CM cake, kalli- thank you! Beautiful work on that one, too. I appreciate you all so much.

Just being a decadent glutton this morning; slept until 9:30!, now wearing Elixir Lumiere Noire and about to have cupcakes for breakfast. This is how all 39 year olds behave, right? Hugs to everyone!

A very happy birthday to PerfumedLady! May your breakfast cupcakes be scrumptious and filled with bacon. If you like that kind of thing. Which I do.

I'm in SL Fille en Aiguilles. Just a perfect fragrance for a cold, sunny Monday. But it doesn't last very long on me. Which may the first time I've ever said that about a fragrance by Uncle Serge.

Have a lovely day, my friends!

It's gotten really cold here, I'll warm up in some Hermes L'Ambre Des Merveilles edp.

Happy Birthday to the Lady of the house!

Today for me it's (from a sample - thank you Kevin Guyer, wherever you are...):

Lumiere Blanche by Olfactive Studio

Not nearly as exciting as I expected it to be, nonetheless sometimes these types of scents need several wearings before you can 'get' them. Same thing happened the first time I sampled L'Eau d'Hiver by Malle, which now I love!

Happy Birthday, PerfumedLady!!

I hope you're having a wonderful day!

I'm wearing some Cartier Panthere Eau Legere, for an unusually warm & sunny day. Going to the botanical gardens today to enjoy it before it turns rainy and chilly again. Trying to drag Mr. Belle out of the house with me. I can't believe I heard Christmas music already on the radio. Seems a bit ridiculous this early. Advent is around the corner, however, hard as it is to believe. It starts on December 2nd. I think I will take a break from BN this year during Advent.

Love to you all today.

Happy Birthday Perfumed Lady!

Sorry for posting so late in the day, I've just been doing housework and now it's time for me to go to work. Thank you everyone for your congratulations and kind wishes, and for all of the comments on the meaning of glamour they were insightful. Anyway inspired by a thread I was reading through here, on Yesterday I'm getting a delicious mix of skank, class, and decadence with Bal a Versailles hopefully I'm not being too daring, [I do have the evening shift tonight so it is an evening perfume] I have the EDC version in a white bottle.

Yum!! Cupcakes might just be my favorite breakfast ever, lol ...you smell delicious, too! I hope your day continues to be sweet and decadent, PLady.

Well, I've switched out of the elegantly tailored Gucci No1 for the afternoon, and now I'm sort of wallowing in something completely different, the rich and flirty voluptuousness of Calvin Klein's Euphoria ....boy, I just love a bangin' fruity floral!
