Let's face it, the best fragrance is

It probably has the most fans, it's one of the most (if not THE most) controversial scents, and
while there are older fragrances out there, it has lasted three decades and is still going strong.

Just got discontinued in the US I thought
post #3 of 46
Could be, for some people. On the other hand, some of us choose not to smell like a public men's restroom.

Kouros is the fragrance King!!!
It's revolting. One of the most abhorrent fragrances I have ever had the misfortune to smell.
I think it has had its day and it's popularity has long faded. But it's reformulated shadow stands today for those fragrance enthusiasts who are nostalgic for a edgy controversial classic. I'm sure if a public survey was done today on the high street of our Cities most people would have never heard of it unless they were of a certain age.

Vintage Kouros is very complex and some get that urinal cake scent from it and I can understand, but I still love it. I love the old powerhouse too though!
I like Kouros, but its daddy Creed Orange Spice still trumps it.
Although I personally like Kouros, similar arguments can be made for many other fragrances.

But I thought we had already decided that was Chanel Allure Homme Sport Eau Extreme ?
Let's face it, it's not.
If your favorite scent is the urinal puck then absolutely!
I really don't like the smell of Kouros, very controversial and old fashioned fragrance, unwearable. In my opinion a badly done frag, and certainly not the best ever.

Let's face it, the best fragrance is subjective. That's part of what makes this hobby so much fun.

No, the best fragrance is AdG

Shiny Beast, are you saying the best fragrance is creepy?
Are you suggesting Derby?
No idea how people can call this the best fragrance... It simply isn't. It's not disgusting like A*Men but I can show you many cheap $3 cans of deodorant spray which smell the exact same. And that's why I will never ever buy this.

Da skunk phenomenon, haha.
It reminds of the nice, clean scent whenever I use the bathroom at work.

I wonder if the teens of today will be having this same discussion about 1 Million like this 30 years from now.
My experience has been other guys like it, but not the girls

And it's got one of the coolest bottles...!

...one you haven't tried yet.
It does have an awesome bottle but what lives inside the bottle is a huuuuuuuuuuuge let down!

My next purchase.
I can confirm it is one of the most satisfying fragrances ever.
To each, their own...subjectivity is important, or else we would all smell the same. Imagine if every man you happened to meet, were friends with, or worked with in your office wore this. Would it be special?

I have been in a full wearing of Kouros for just over 36 hours. I touched it up several times, including a couple of sprays of the wonderful Eau de Sport (which is rarer than a dodo bird)...

Cheers,

ericrico

How do you arrive at that conclusion?

Because wearing this fragrance is the equivalent of kicking an ADG guy in the nuts.

One of the best, it is rather special. Sometimes I use other fragrances and think...is it really worth wearing/owning, I could wear King Kouros instead.

The only way this is image is the best fragrance is if that Kouros bottle is actually filled with VanCleef and Arpels pour homme
post #43 of 46
I concur Russel, but the most polarizing scent ever created. Can you imagine the response if someone posted the same thread, but with Cool Water? It would be a few laughs and...then, crickets. No one would care (and, personally, I don't even dislike Cool Water).

I agree with what you said as I had over 36 hours with Kouros and then washed up (but didn't touch the spot on my forearm where Eau de Sport is - it is still a nice skin scent - 14-15+ hours ago, 2 sprays...incredible!) But, I have to be honest and say that variety is the spice of life. I wouldn't feel that Kouros is so special even if I wore it every day (forget other people around me). My wearings of it are typically twice per month as I find that I have to be truly in the mood - but once it's on my skin, I relate to what you said. It is captivating - and few scents make me feel the way Kouros does when it is on me.

Cheers - enjoy.

that right there was the coolest thing ive read in a long time. "the equivalent of kicking an adg guy in the nuts". i cant think of a better guilty pleasure. i would truly love to kick a lot of adg guys right square in the nuts. thank you for brightening my day, that was awesome!
OP, you spelt "worst" wrong...
Nastiest thing I have ever smelled. I couldn't have imagined that a fragrance was meant to put people off.

What a disgusting thing.

And same goes to another YSL smell, don't remember which one. Needless to say, I've never bought a YSL ever.
