What do you guys think of...

What do you guys think of Black Orchid by Tom Ford? Give me all you're thoughts on smell, longevity, projection and all that good stuff!

I'm 17 years old, can I rock this?
Why would I hate this scent?
Why would I love this scent?

I really hate fragrances that smells of musk, leather and all that kind of scent. I love sweet gourmands, chocolate vanilla, yum!

Thanks in advance, and I'm really sorry if this post already exist.

If you like gourmands you will probably like it. Its hard to describe... dark fruity gourmand is best I can think of. It is more feminine than masculine and it would suit confident lady (20+) best. As a 17yo guy you may smell like you are trying too hard. Also I think that it is kinda linear and not that complex (it certainly is not developing into better scent).

+ it is really unique
+ projection is good (but I expected more)
+ longevity is above average (10+ hours)

I think Black Orchid is no more feminine than A*men or Black XS Pour Homme, guy can certainly pull it off. When the first sweetness has burned off, it offers up incense and woods mixed with the vanilla. It's an interesting and multifaceted gourmand, so I say, good choice, go for it!

I am wearing Black Orchid today. The composition is constructed around spicy black orchid, and all of the other components (citrus, jasmine, gardenia, black current, spice, fruit, chocolate, patchouli, and amber) exaggerate each facet of the flower. The result is an enormous 3D black orchid: dark and psychedelic. Woodsy notes are detectable. For a man to wear this powerful fragrance he must go easy on the trigger and be confident, but I always say be yourself and wear what you like! I wear feminine, unisex and masculine frags because I am myself and would not want to miss out on a frag just because it's marketed for a certain gender!
Remember Black Orchid starts off very strong and the sillage drops off a bit after an hour or so, but the longevity goes on all day.

It's complex and projects like a monster, it smells good though I find it too overwhelming for my taste. Good fragrance though.

I disliked it, but based on your preferences it could very well be right up your alley. It had excellent projection and longevity for what its worth...

I find it too feminine for my taste.

Projects, lasts, black currant meets other goodness, you should enjoy it.

Agreed. A lot of Tom Ford fragrances are actually very feminine.

+1 in that I find the majority of TF fragrances to be too feminine for my liking.

I blind bought this several months back. IMO, it is OK - a little feminine, and way too heavy on the chocolate/floral. I never really wear it.
I would think it very unusual for a 17 year old to wear it, but that may be all the more reason to do it -- being unique and different is a good asset to have sometimes. As others have noted, if you go very easy with the trigger, you may find it to be just what you are looking for...

I don't think a 17 year old would like this frag. I am 32 and I dislike it. Smells feminine and oldish to me. Like something my grandmother would wear. Although scent usually brings back memories very well, so this may be similar to something my grandmother wore and may only be me that sees it this way.

In sillage on others, I get a rich sandalwood, with sweet amber and patchouli supporting. I keep smelling it on different people (must be selling well here) and it shows very different facets each time. Probably the most interesting Tom Ford fragrance (which isn't saying much imo).

Would be an unusual choice for a young man, but in Sweden I think it could work. Very very potent -- one full spray would certainly do the trick for all-day longevity.

I love it and if you love it then wear it.

NOTE: DO NOT over apply this, just a few sprays is all you need. This stuff radiates!

I like it, but I don't think it's a safe buy. It projects like crazy. Definitely feminine.

Thank you all for your help!

I can and do actually wear alot of feminine scents, but I only wear them if they aren't the 'typical feminine powdery candy scent' if you know what I mean. For instants: I love to wear Lolita Lempicka L de Lolita. The cinnamon cookie one. It's a feminine fragrance that doesn't smell feminine.

Now, I have to say that I really hate woodsy fragrances. Musk, leather, wood, tobacco and incense is a big no-no for me. So, I'm gonna have to order a sample of it to see for myself about the feminine vibe you guys get from BO.

Again, thank you so much for all your sweet help, will let you guys know what I think about BO when my sample arrives.

Definitely a try before you buy.

its too feminine.its not a fragrance for a man in my opinion..
i like it a lot and its very sexy on a woman.

agreed with all the other comments about it being too feminine.

The perfume amplifies projection! Use half of what you'd normally spray.

It's very complex. I enjoy it.

Polarizes opinion big time - definitely love or hate. Sweet, dirty, dark, complex, challenging, marathon longevity, nuclear sillage.

I'm perfectly comfortable wearing it applied very lightly - verdict

I flip flop on it. Some days I really love it, others it's just too much. I'm not allowed to sell it though.

Smells feminine on first spray -- also kinda wierd similar to overblown fruit

I tried Black Orchid once. It scared the beejeezus outta me!

In all fairness, it's not a bad fragrance. Just a little too over the top for my taste.

What do you mean when you say dirty?
