What fragrance would a 'James Bond' type of guy, wear?

And I don't mean that horrendous 007 cologne that came out a few months ago. I mean what would a Bond, aka international agent, be wearing?

Bond NY Oud

Green Irish Tweed.

For some reason, every time I wear Tobacco Vanille I feel like James Bond.
Outside of the films, Sean Connery and one other Bond actor both wore Guerlain's Jicky. Sophisticated and classic.

Tobacco Vanille for James Bond, but im no fan of Daniel Craig, he would wear Le Male.

I see the Sean Connery version of Bond wearing Knize Ten.

Perhaps MOJO by Austin Powers?
I think Gendarme still makes it.

Vintage Michael for Men by Michael Kors.

For the real James Bond movies (with Sean Connery & Roger Moore) - Vintage Monsieur de Givenchy...a timeless classic that has understated elegance and masculinity.

In the books on which many of the movies were based, he wore Eucris and Floris 89 (and they are both great). But for the modern, Daniel Craig type of Bond, I would go Tom Ford Extreme.

Either Creed Vetiver or Floris Vetiver. 60's suave in a bottle. Martin

Definitely a 'Creed'.

That new '007' is hilariously bad

'Bonds' would be London-based Civil Servants tied to a desk for the majority of their time.

They very likely shop in the St James' area of London.

Floris, Taylors of Old Bond St, Truefitt & Hill, D R Harris, Penhaligons and Geo. F Trumper would be very well known to them and the cream of that particular crop (in my opinion) would be Penhaligons.

Blenheim Bouquet / Sartorial for work
English Fern at weekends
Hammam Bouquet for evenings

Of course, they would get their shaving soaps from D R Harris.

He'd probably wear M by Puredistance, so that he could amuse himself and Moneypenny with the fact that he's wearing M.
Else Aventus perhaps, as he doesn't seem to mind to drop a few, already rather loose sitting, panties (never much real skill involved when it comes to his conquests, if I'm not mistaken).

I am not sure about this either - I read that Ian Fleming (the author) wore Floris 89, not James Bond.

A scent that I wouldn't mind trying, actually. It seems rather gentlemanly and proper - with a nice blend of notes.

I like what you wrote, Joe:

"They very likely shop in the St James' area of London.

Very thoughtful and articulate...and specifically, true to what is most likely and plausible.

Cheers,

Well, Bond works on plenty of international assignments too. No compelling reason to just stick to English fragrances, is there?

He would also be very near Fortnum and Masons for his Creeds and also Czech and Speake in Jermyn Street -- for maybe Cuba?

The older Bonds maybe Acqua di Parma, Eau Sauvage or a fougere.
Newer Bonds could add GIT or DHI to the collection.

Iquitos Alain Delon, V&A Pour Homme, Aramis by Aramis, Havana Aramis, Yatagan, Trussardi Uomo Vintage, Xeryus, Sombre Negra etc etc

The original authentic Fleming-based one who chose products based on quality, or the new reformulated opportunistic version that is constructed from product placement? The latter will probably wear the EdC from the manufacturer that pays him most.

+1. One of the only sensible replies here. VC&A PH may not be as expensive or "trendy" as the Creeds and whatnot, but it is definitely the smell someone who means business!

Geranium pour Monsieur by Frederic Malle

Cool and calculated, yet still lively and charming. It's classy smelling, but without anything cliche or smug about it. It's really a unique fragrance and nothing out there smells like it.

I doubt JB would want to smell like dog shit. YMMV of course...

Having seen countless similar posts here and in other forums, my understanding is that Ian Fleming wore Floris 89. Bond in books and movies was never associated with it. In one of the films, his bathroom was "outfitted" by his host with Trumpers Eucris. But that doesn't make it Bond's scent.

To me, you sample a lot of stuff and figure out for yourself what he would wear.

The two suggestions I like are VC&A Pour Homme (grrrrrrr in a bottle) and Puredistance M for the smart ass factor.

Don't agree - but he would probably still get laid

Depends which Bond.

Connery - Jicky
Lazenby - ???
Moore - Aramis
Dalton - Drakkar Noir
Brosnan - Bel Ami
Craig - Tom Ford Extreme

Apart from the from the fragrance myth/marketing strategy related to Floris, maybe almost any scent along the lines of some Creed, Givenchy Gentleman, Chanel pour Monsieur (also the concentrated version). But also Hugh Parsons, Penhaligons Blenheim Bouquet, maybe some ADP, maybe also Habit Rouge, would be, in my opinion, likely choices. At least considering how I would personally imagine this fictional character and/or his fragrance choices.
