Casual fragrance gift for older male.

I'm looking to pick up my stepfather a bottle for Christmas, and I was looking for some advice. I only own two colognes, so my knowledge is almost non existent.

Basically, I'm looking for a nice, casual cologne that an older male can wear. Something that can be worn at any time, but mostly aiming towards the colder months, fall and winter. Obviously since he works in an office setting, it needs to be non offensive.

He currently wears Joop, if that makes any difference. I don't believe he has any other cologne, it was just a gift he received.

I have Givenchy Play, and he likes the smell of that, but I'm not sure it is an "office" fragrance. I was possibly thinking something like Burberry London would be a decent choice.

Any advice or reccomendations would be greatly appreciated.

+1 Egoiste (the regular Egoiste, not the Platinum Egoiste). Warm, slightly woody, sandalwoody, with a touch of sweetness, good for all occasions. If you prefer something on the fresh side, then one suggestion is Lalique Encre Noire, a vetiver with a touch of woods, or Tom Ford Grey Vetiver.

burberry london is a good choice. i also recommend mugler cologne or terre d'hermes.

Dior's Fahrenheit is a masculine, clean scented designer fragrance that's not offensive IMO.

Yes, Burberry London is a fine choice. +1 more.

Another one you may consider is Salvatore Ferragamo Pour Homme. Relatively very inexpensive and a very nice scent with nice wood, integrated florals, vetiver and musk. A great bottle that can actually be worn year-round as well.

Careful, Sonny!! Who are you calling "older"!!

...,just kidding...

I'm 50 years young and on the conservative side of the spectrum. For office wear, I'd consider the following:

$50.....Guerlain Vetiver.
$100...Acqua di Parma Colonia
$150...Creed Green Irish Tweed or Original Vetiver

I own & wear all. They are each classic, clean, professional scents that coworkers will admire.

If Joop! is considered safe for the office, he will have no problem wearing Play (or pretty much anything else for that matter).

As an aside-and I'm probably committing perfumistic heresy- I wear what I like at the office, If a frag is strong then I can wear less and save money, so it's win win situation for me personally!
