I was hoping to get this perfume for Christmas but few weeks before holidays parents told me they would like to buy something else for Christmas. I was a little sad, but rather OK with that so I bought it myself right before Christmas.

Parfum d'Empire Cuir Ottoman. A perfume closing my 2012 achievements.

Thank you cello! I'm not a leather fan but I love the way the leather is pronounced in this one. I also like few more light leathers. It's a second Parfum d'Empire in my collection. There are few more from the house on my wishlist, I will be slowly adding them to my collection in 2013.

Wow, so many inspired buys and great hauls this month! All y'all smell fabulous... :-)

Here are my buys for December -- Koto Shisiedo was a blind buy inspired by Knit's post on the unsung treasures thread -- it's a lot like "Y" and I LOVE it! (fairly inexpensive on ebay, a "make an offer" listing.) Thanks Knit!

Also got some lovely decants -- most from a fellow basenoter, and the Une Voix Noir from a friendly ebay seller in Paris. I've got one more 10ml coming... Opus V from a split) You can probably see from the labels, but the others are Chanel 18, 22, 28, Different Co Rose Poivree vintage, Ubar vintage, and Caron Parfum Sacre extrait. (it's awesome...)

I add the paper and labels on the decants myself.

Shalimar EdC. It came in the box with the white background and black fishnet design. It has to be from the 60s or 70s.
Slightly used for a very good price.

Mona di Orio Les Nombres d’Or Vanille from The Perfume Shoppe. I already own one, but they jacked p the price by $50 and thought might stock up one at the old price.
Neela Vermeire Trayee. I got a sample set, and they were offering €15 off and free shipping to all prior customers. Might even get myself her Bombay Bling. It's just sooo good.

Finally took the plunge and got myself Guerlain's Spiriteuse Double Vanille for Christmas. I was doing a spot of online Christmas shopping at Saks Fifth Avenue, and they had a code which gives you $100 off if you spend $500. After the discount, the Guerlain was $202 down from $250. Which means even after tax, I ended up paying less than the $250 it retails for.

The downside is that I won't get it before the seventh of January. Oh well.

Merry Christmas, all.

C Rose, I did not know you are making them pretty houses for your treasures yourself! As a crafter, I appreciate the thought and care you put into the process, not even mentioning the time here. And I know first hand you are using hand-made rice paper. Very very nice. And thought-provoking for these itchy hands, you know? LOL

Hah, I know just how you feel! I try to keep my purchases to a minimum, so it's nice to live through other people's perfume purchases

HOWEVER, Christmas money + sales = yellow_cello can actually buy perfume! My Christmas purchases:

~ Various (ie lots) of samples from ZOMG smells (http://www.zomgsmellsshop.com/). I've had my eye on them for a while - I'm not sure what the quality will be like, but the fragrances look interesting. I love their relaxed, tongue in cheek attitude to perfume - the fragrance industry can take itself too seriously sometimes, so it's nice when perfumers have some fun with their art!

~ Penhaligon's Amaranthine - been keeping an eye out for a bargain bottle, and what should I find in the Penhaligon's sale reduced to £27...

~ Penhaligon's Orange Blossom EDT and solid perfume set, another one I've been keeping an eye out for.

Seriously tempted to blind buy L'AP Vanille Absolument and make it a truly Duchaufour Christmas, but I should be good...
