Fragrances that smell like a ghost.

I am coming to a difficult time. As my Viktor and Rolf has been discontinued, I must find a new favorite. It is the only fragrance I have tried, for some reason, that brings to mind a ghost.

Now I know that is entirely ridiculous, and it probably does not remind anyone else of a ghost, but hey. I want to know what fragrances you may have tried, or own, which bring up that connotation.

If you have one, what about it does. Is it incense? Some memory you have with it? Any certain note? You saw a ghost while you were WEARING IT!??!?!

Didn't see any other questions like this on the forum, thought I'd give it a post.

I think you need to clarify what a ghost would smell like, because I've never seen one. Since it's impossible for a ghost to see, hear, smell, or speak (no eyes, ears, nose, or mouth) how would you know such a thing? Are we talking Patrick Swayze here?

I think D&G's The One, is the closest you will ever get to smelling like a ghost. Spray in on and 15 seconds later it disappears.

I didn't get on with LIDGE- just felt like a pale version of my former self. Is that similar?

Do you mean you want something light smelling, or something that smells like the old house in Casper?

Prince de Galles Silver smells like a place a ghost would dwell in.

Comme des Garcons 2 Man

I get a dark damp stone, medieval sense from Etro Messe de Minuit, and yes, it's incense and more. If there's a fragrance that may evoke a haunted place, this may be it.

Good one And it's true.

Depends on the ghost, a ghost may smell like almost anyone.

But a "ghost-like" scent, almost that hauntingly neutral, it may almost come of translucent and elusive, is Quartz by Molyneux.

De Profundis by Serge Lutens. A ghost fragrance if I ever smelled one. Images of darkness and death, a cool chrysanthemum flower and some incense. Very transparent. I mean look at the color of it!

Czech & Speake No.88 has a gothic vibe.

Narciso Rodriguez for him

Love the answers and the D&G burn. Clearly the idea of a ghost is different for different people. But you are defintely looking into it how I was picturing it. I must acquire these suggested samples!

^^^^ This one!

I'd say something like L'Antimatiere by Les Nez. It's known to be the invisible ink of perfume. You can barely smell it, but it lasts for days and it's always there with you!

Otherwise, I think something that smells like a creepy temple or cathedral could work. Maybe something like Kyoto or Avignon by Comme des Garcons. Both are "dark" and deep, like a temple or cathedral at night.

My final rec would be Geranium pour Monsieur. It's cold and mentholated with mint, and dries down to an airy and cool geranium and white musk. The whole thing is transparent and cool. Definitely nose, if not, spine-tingling.

Olivier Durbano Black Tourmaline has a cold otherworldly vibe. Worth exploring imo.

To me ghostly smell would translate to something with either angelica like angelique sous la pluie or iris silver mist with that dry iris and carrot note. Also Opus 1870 maybe. I love all three funny enough.

Apres l'Ondee Guerlain smells like a Victorian ghost leaving a trail of faint violents. L'Eau d'Hiver Malle has a similar vibe.

I always though there's something creepy in Zino Davidoff. It smells like a funeral parlor...

Iris Silver Mist is quite creepy, cold and ethereal.

Ghost? I thought you said goat...

L'Anarchiste. The sandal and musk do give this a kind of dry gothic earthy feel in the dry down.

Molecule 01 has, for me, an ethereal, ghost-like presence.
Every now and again you get a vague impression of something, but it is too elusive to properly grasp.

Dark Oud is my Halloween fragrance.

Somehow Grey Flanel comes to my mind.

I was just about to post this....

Yes, Molecule 01 has a ghostly floaty presence to me. Very ethereal and otherworldly.

Great minds and all that, F !

Burberry London smells like the ghost of Christmas past.

There’s something ghostly about CK Obsession Night for Men. It’s vague and misty, ephemeral, with a hint of sweet melancholy lurking in its moody pale moonlight.

Awesome folks. I've already ordered some of the samples. Sent for the Les Nez samples, and from other sources, the Slumberhouse samples. I didn't see a place to order the Serge Lutens samples, and the bottle is unavailable at the moment. Can't get the sampler of Geranium, because Jesus at the price of their samplers!

Beat me to it. Absolutely true.

Passage d'Enfer is quite deathly and creepy.

Memoir Man.
+1 for Dark Aoud, though it smells more like death (in a good way) than a ghost per say.

You can email them and they'll send out a complimentary wax sample booklet with most of their line.

Jacques Guerlain seemed to capture my personal idea of the scent of ghostly encounters with Vol de Nuit IMO.

Someone said that about our staff toilet last week!

I would say Molecule 01 though. It's never there even though you can 'feel' its presence after spraying it!!

CDG - White
Cold like death

I agree with Les Nez L'Antimatiere. Though transparent, I can smell it quite pronouncedly for its duration. I pick up a clear, thin veil of musk.

Also agree with Malle L'Eau d'Hiver. Extremely light and transparent feel, but also smells of baby powder.

This same came to my mind instantly.

Will add Ungaro I Pour L'Homme which is imo sinister, like "haunted" or "ghostly" kind of fragrance, still beautiful.
