How long do stores keep fragrances in their warehouse?

Stores like Sephora, Macy's, Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, etc...

I've always wondered whether I've received a brand new bottle or a bottle that's been sitting in the warehouse for a year or two. I would hate to lose two years off it's shelf life because I was sent an older batch. Do these warehouses have a time limit before they have to get rid of it?

EDIT:
I forgot to mention checkcosmetics.net - I know it's a good site to check a scents manufacturing date, but unfortunately they don't list every brand.

Well IMO if the fragrance in particular isn't selling well and the store isn't movin enough inventory. I can see months easy.

Don't know. Doesn't worry me personally.

Sephora etc usually have a big movement, so I wouldn't worry. Plus, a couple of years in storage will not do anything to a frag. You will probably notice that many collectors actually look for *older* bottles, as perfumes are often reformulated.

The problem of Sephora are the warm lights of the display. It is not a big problem for perfumes in their boxes, but I have noticed that creams can go bad easily.

Thanks. I try not to think about it since I have no control over inventory stocks and what not.

Since most consumers buy from retail stores, they usually restock very often.
If a product isn't selling, they'll drop the price, take a financial hit on it, and just get rid of it.
