In terms of quality, originality and... PRICE!! Which 3 niche brands do you think are the best?

+1 on Serge Lutens, you won't get better niche bang for your buck. I think Goutal and Diptyque are good also, based on your criteria.

Right now, I can only think of:

apart from the obvious Lutens
also Knize and

Parfums de Nicolai comes to mind, particularly because it sells 30ml bottles for about 30-40 euros.
Knize Ten is also a standout for the price (but much less so the other scents of the house).
Then I'd single out Etat Libre d'Orange, which sells interesting, quirky scents for abt $85 for 15 ml (I have seen the new 100ml bottles in Paris, but don't know how much they cost).

I'll go out on a limb & recommend Luckyscent's Decennial series. Price is decent 75ml/$150; both originality & quality r nonpareil. I'd like to hear from those who received the sample sets offered thru a banner above each Basenoter's page last month.

While on their site, type "coffret" & u'll find many of the niche brands mentioned here offer exclusive holiday discovery sets 4 u 2 try out.

On that note, I must add Andy Tauer to my list, who also did Lys du desert for the Decennial.

The third is a toss-up b/t Parfum de Nicolai & Etat Livbre d'Orange.. I'll let u know after I receive the coffret for Xmas

Etat Libre d'Orange
Nicolai
Tauer

But I'd point out that quality, price, and originality are secondary - the most important thing is that you like the fragrance(s). And that may have nothing to do with the above criteria.

Niche/designer are silly, misleading and inaccurate concepts - there are only fragrances.
