VC&A Pour Homme Concentrated, I presume?

Hello to everyone on Basenotes. I have been lurking and learning here for a while.
This is something I just picked up in an auction. I didn't pull the trigger right away because I wasn't 100% sure what it was.

It had no cap or box, and was listed as a women's fragrance. But I studied the pics and did some digging, and decided that it was in fact VC&A Pour Homme Concentrated Cologne. I have never tried the regular Pour Homme, but have read quite a bit about it and also some about the later Concentrated version. It sounded like something I would enjoy, based on the descriptions and because I am a fan of other scents from the same era.

So it was delivered today and I proceeded to spray a bit on my forearm. It goes on like an absolute bomb! I only put on a light shot, and it is extremely potent. I do like it, especially now that it has settled down some (around two hours after application). Such an opulent scent. I have yet to do any reviews, and will hold off on doing one on this for now. I am glad I got it. There was some uncertainty involved in the purchase, and it is certainly no collector's piece (e.g. around 80% full and with no cap). But it wasn't expensive, and once I was able to identify it and understood its rarity, well, I just had to get it!

I know there is a chance someone will set me straight and tell me that this bottle is something other than VC&A PH CC, but I think that chance is small.

Looks like VC&A Pour Homme to me too - maybe an early tester bottle?

It looks like a 1oz bottle which are common sizes back in the day in the European market. Nice find of vintage formula

I love that scent a great leather chypre

I also second that it's an undersized bottle of the vintage formulation.

Thanks. In fact, I found those posts in the course of my research before bidding. Based on all I had read, I came to the conclusion that the 25ml/0.85 fl oz bottle was only used for the CC version. But I could be wrong about that. In any case, I have little doubt that this is a vintage formulation of VC&A PH, either the original or the CC. Maybe I'll have a chance to sniff a known sample sometime and compare it with what I have now.

Another thing I found interesting: The bottle itself looks dark brown or black, but holding it up to the light reveals that the glass is actually very dark violet, and transparent.

I wonder if you purchased this from a fellow or former basenoter.

I doubt it. I got it on the Japanese equivalent of Ebay. The seller had it listed in the women's fragrance category. Since the box was missing and the words "Pour Homme" don't appear on the bottle, I can see how that mistake was made. I kept my eye on it for a few weeks to see if anyone would bid. Early on I was fairly certain that the item was VC&A PH, but I let the time run out on the auction (twice) to see if it would be relisted at a lower price. But the price didn't change, and I started to worry that the seller might not relist the item again. The price wasn't particularly high to begin with, especially considering the fact that this could be the rare CC version. So despite the uncertainties about the item itself, I decided to bid on it. I was the lone bidder.
