Comme Des Garcon Incense Series

Is it worth buying the incense series sample kit for 40 bucks? (five 2ml samples, one of each). Are these top of the line incense scents if im looking for a good incense scent?

Have you tried Montale Full Incense?

no.

Do you think you need 2ml to get a sense for whether you like it or not? If not, then I would just order the .7ml samples from Luckyscent and save quite a lot of money. In my opinion, they are worth checking out, but I wouldn't spend $40 to do it.

They are definitely great and worth smelling. But the price seems high - given that the scents themselves aren't that expensive, for niche perfumes.

One complaint I sometimes see is that these are recreations of the incenses rather than perfumes with an incense note.
The collector in me wants to get full bottles of the whole series, but I'm both an incense lover and a CdG lover

it's not worth buying the incense series sample kit for 40 bucks (it work out to be $4/ml), because you can sample the incense series @luckyscent for $15.

save the the rest and grab a bottle of your favorite from the incense series instead for $80/50ml and it's worth it

have the whole incense series and my fav are Avignon & Jaisalmer

if you love incense, recommend you track down Armani Bois d'Encens

I don't care for the dabber vials either but $40 is steep for five samples. They're smaller samples (and dabber vials), but you can get all five and Full Incense to boot for $19 at Luckyscent.

Not that you asked but Jaisalmer is my favorite, and Montale's Full Incense is very good and lasts way long than the CdG's.

As others have already pointed out, you would be better off getting samples from LuckyScent. Avignon is top of the line for incense fragrances IMO, but the others range from ok to bad.

A better bet IMO.

I think they are really good and each is worth buying. But, no reason to buy the whole series - so get a sample from Luckyscent. My favorites are Jaisalmer, Avignon and Kyoto. Jaisalmer is nice if you like patchouli, Avignon is better for frankincense and Kyoto is more a Japanese style incense fragrance but a milder version.

There's a full sample set on Ebay for something like $25 plus shipping.
no do not pay that much for them!

Avignon is the best recreation of Catholic mass IMO if that was what you are going for? If not you can go for Full Incense which has a sweeter less dry base as well as Kyoto which is an excellent scent in its own right. I find that while Heeley Cardinal is a great recreation of that lithurgical feel it in no way can compare how austere Avignon is. If you are looking for something from the incense series, Kyoto and Avignon are definitely worth a sniff and I would say Avignon is Full Bottle Worthy.

Surrender to Chance has a 1 ml. sample (vial) of Montale Full Incense for $3.99.

Wow, they also have a half ml. of Bois d'Encens for $6.99. Ouch.

Looking forward to trying Full Incense and Avignon as I do love the churchy incense vibe.

They're worth sampling but not for that price.

Intelligent and I agree.

Luckyscent will even throw in some samples with the purchase of any bottle. I have sampled them and have to say that, personally, I find the Incense series to be admirable. Kyoto is my favorite...but, they all offer something unique and different. Simply put, Comme des Garcons (as a house) is fantastic with the use and articulate nuances of incense in fragrance. Avignon is also rather striking - not because it is so smoky, but rather because it so lifted and ethereal. Kyoto is transcendent to a temple in the cypress and cedar-forested mountains in Northern Honshu with burning incense from an outdoor Buddhist temple. Gorgeous.

I could continue...but perhaps you should find out for yourself. :-)

Cheers.

Exactly, expcially considering the full bottles are very reasonably priced. Why don't you get samples from luckyscent? My favorites are Avignon, Kyoto and Zagorsk.
