"Comfort zone"

So many times I smell something, and go "that smells great!" and even "That smells great on me!" but somehow, I feel like it sticks out like a sore thumb. Like, I'm wearing the fragrance like a sticker, instead of feeling like it's "me". (If that makes sense).

For the most part, the only scents I've found that don't stick out on me are fruity (my favorite being blackberry) and vanilla scents.

Is this a comfort zone kind of thing? Does anyone else have this problem?

Even Joy, which I LOVE, doesn't smell like me, it smells like it's just "stuck on there".

In my case I am pretty comfortable with any scent I put on.

I know what you mean; I get that impression from Carnal Flower. I like it but it never seems to blend with my skin.

There are a LOT of scents like that for me, which is why I was wondering if it's just a case of "I'm not used to smelling like this". Trish McEvoy #3 is another favorite though, and it is really flowery and everything I would normally NOT like in a perfume. Go figure. lol

Some scents just tend to stick out. I don't think you're the issue.

I have found over the years, the more scents I try, the more I find out about myself, and now my likes and dislikes have changed. Five years ago, I would never have even thought about wearing a fragrace with Rose, let alone any floral, yet here I am today wearing these types of fragrances.

In my case, while the "comfort zone" is constantly expanding, I am still quite uncomfortable with too floral or ambiguously unisex scents, on the other hand, I am trying to make the best out of any scent available and, of course, test more, expand more, experience more, branch out more and thus eventually enlarge my comfort zone.

Sounds like the comfort zone, alright. But if you've tried wearing it more than a few times and you still don't feel it's really you maybe it's just not your preferred style. We can't possibly love everything.

I just watch out for those loud projection fragrances as they end up wearing you. I'm more comfortable with scents that stay close to you but project enough to pleasantly smell them for at least five hours.

Excellent advice. Totally agree with you.
