Beautiful? I seek beauty, I seek to be surrounded by it. I wonder how you're using the word. If I stand in front of Water Lillies at the MOMA, I see beauty. Intense beauty. I love most Picassos, but I find them to be less "beautiful" than the water lillies. So maybe my feelings about beauty have kind of this Japanese lilt to them where I think about stuff like harmony, peace, balance, proportion and nuanced pleasure. I can appreciate and respect some the more hard-edged male fragrances out there, the ones that seem to extend from the Guinness Stout/horseshit cohiba/rotten whiskey model of demonstrating one's virility, but for me "beauty" has a somewhat softer, milder, more comforting feeling to it than that. So, with that disclaimer in mind, I think that the most beautiful fragrances are -
Bulgari Eau Parfumee Au The Vert
Cartier L'Essence de Must Pour Homme
Cartier Must Pour Homme
Gaultier 2
Guerlain Spiritueuse Double Vanille
Gucci Pour Homme 2003
Jo Malone Red Roses (imo dudes cannot wear this, but can park bars of the soap in strategic locations in the bathroom).
Maybe Halston Z-14, which in some ways is the magnum opus of male perfumery, is beautiful. The old, original, long-gone Quorum was kind of beautiful.
I could probably be convinced that an old skool test-fest powerhouse like Santos is beautiful - I wear it a lot - but my definition of beauty is probably narrower than yours. Anyway, that's my best thinking on the subject. It's all terribly subjective, isn't it?
