Many happy Returns to our special Easyfish!!

From yesterday;

"I'm curious about "blowsy" - where I come from it means dowdy, frumpy, sloppy - is that what it means to you, too? From the context I'm thinking it's not, exactly ...but you never know! I love both Lipstick Rose and Drole de Rose btw. It's their girly, flirty retro-glamour that appeals to me, but they do require the proper mood and situation ...especially LR, which can be a bit flamboyant, while DdR is more on the coy side and you can definately take her more places, lol.

How interesting! Sorry I couldn't get back to you yesterday. You have answered your own question really. You know, I checked the original meaning of blowsy and your definition is right. In fact is was originally quite a rude word, but it is not used in that way in common usage here at all any more!! I can see how it has evolved. At one stage it may have meant "vulgar" but it doesn't really mean that now. It is not an offensive word. It often used to describe flowers. It sort of means pretty but a bit overblown. An example would be the appearance of large headed frilly Peonies, they are often decribed as blowsy. You hit the nail on the head with your comparison with DdR being "more coy and you can take her more places". LR is glorious though isn't she? But DrR is a bit more, well, demure.

Ramon Monegal L'Eau de Rose today. It is shining like a beacon of hope in the Winter cold.

Good afternoon. It's -2 outside. I'm staying home to catch up on cataloguing.

SOTD is Micallef Gardenia. It reminds me of debutantes for some reason... very lady-like. So, today's image is Jackqueline Bouvier, 1947.

Good morning everyone -

I'm in a soft cloud of No22, vintage parfum and edt.

Y'all have a great day!

turquoisewater, today's your wedding day?? That's wonderful! (Thanks, Jon!) Wishing you both joy, happiness and love, always.

Happy birthday dear easyfish, happy birthday to you ...and many more!

Thanks for the confirmation Foustie - that's what I thought. I have several perfumes that could be considered that sort of "blowsy" ...certainly more flattering than the original meaning, but I still have to be careful about where I take them.

Bathed which called for a change in fragrance.

Off topic but when did Les Exclusifs de Chanel become available to buy online in the US? Hopefully they'll be available online in Europe soon.

Happy Birthday easyfish - wow, your b'day falls on 12/12/12. I suggest at 12:12 this afternoon you have a glass of champagne!

Wearing, prompted by Ody's thread about Xmas scents, the dense, sweet, resinous, ancient-smelling:

Hello all. Vintage Guerlain Liu edt.
Happy Birthday to easyfish (Jon, it would have been my dad's birthday too). Mike P, you are all celebratory -- in some Slovic languages "Sova" means "owl" -- the image that easyfish likes so much in VC&A interpretation and on Q.'s birthday cake.

Turquoisewater, many happy years together to you and Mr.!

That shopping yesterday was excellent -- once again, it made me humble and grateful for what I have already got: family, health, friends, job(s) and the other lady -- happy.

I bit the bullet and ordered that Guerlain from the Wishlist. Should be here in 7-9 days.

Avon Sweet Honesty.

L'Enfer, I believe Chanel USA website has been selling the Exclusifs for several years. I have purchased all of mine through them.

Tonight I am going to an odd little concert, MarchFourth Marching Band Here is a little clip to give you an idea - half marching band, half bluesy, and the other part circus I will wear Frapin 1270.

Wow thanks Cello the last time I visited the US site it didn't have them for sale, I must be getting old.

Chanel isn't that far from me I just don't like going out as I'm tempted to buy other non-perfume goodies.

Much easier to buy online again.

Turquoisewater, many happy years together!

Easyfish, hope you have had a wonderful day.

SotD has been the beautiful, refined and feminine Guerlain Idylle Duet Rose Patchouli. Such a shame it was an LE. So much better than the original Idylle

Hey again -

I'm in Chanel No5 for the afternoon, vintage-80s edp ...the sumptuous gandhajala formulation.

cello - M4 is fantastic! They don't come through here often enough, and I don't know why. I saw them in Lafayette a few years ago, but they really just belong in N'awlins, lol ...they're a lot more jazz and funk than marching band, quite fortunately. Have a great time!
L., it is Cuir Beluga. Thank you, Kiliwia.

Cello, I am reading on a diagonal most of the times, yours appeared to me as "half bluesy, and the other part citrus". LOL

Changed for the evening into Serge Lutens Un Lys.

EDITING: I clicked on that link, cello. That "citrus" is the best part -- aka "showmanship". Thanks for posting it.
