Help me figure out which Cedar cologne this is at Neiman Marcus

There was an extraordinarily expensive but also incredibly powerful and faithful scent of Cedarwood on one of the samples I got tonight from Neiman Marcus and the only thing I remember about the bottle is it had a big V on it and came in a gold box.

The lady sprayed only the tinyest amount and 2 hours later I still smell fresh cedar wood that reminds me of my early days learning carpentry in high school.

This stuff makes TerreD'Hermes smell like Aspen by comparison.

Clive Christian V, perhaps?

Yes I believe that's the one. I don't smell the pepper at all or if I do my nose is to intent on the cedar. A wonderful scent but I don't see myself adding it to my collection.

What other scents have a good cedar note?

Jack Black Signature Black Mark is a very nice cedar scent.

It could have been Profumum Roma's 'Arso'.

Penhaligon's Opus 1870...a wonderful 'cedar chest' smelling fragrance.

The most faithful cedar frag I've come across is Lalique Equus. Longevity ain't great but it sure smells like fresh-cut cedar planks.

My two favorite cedar scents are Les Nombres d'Or Vetyver by Mona di Orio (cedar and vetiver) and Anat Fritz by Anat Fritz (a raw cedar and very sharp aromatic lavender). As for V for Men, I thought it was a bit more about the pepper than cedar, and strongly prefer Terre d'Hermès to it, quite frankly. Way overpriced and good, but far from great smelling, IMO.

Honorable mentions to Bursch by Acqua di Biella (rhubarb and cedar) and Tzora by Anat Fritz (Peruvian pepper and cedar -- closer to the Terre d'Hermès presentation).
