Thanks for having agreed to create and moderate this thread for the upcoming year. I can't think of a better person, honest!

Thank you, Bonsai for such a wonderful job in 2012 and taking it on again for 2013!

I always enjoy the "House Of ... " and the certain perfumer synch days.

Thank you for all the great ideas! Please keep them coming. I'll soon start assembling the list so that we won't have to spend the first Friday of 2013 without a sync (THAT would be a nightmare, wouldn't it? ).
Oh and BTW, I will probably lock the 2012 thread after a few days ...

I suppose we could safely do a Guerlain and a Chanel day (probaly most of us have fragrances from them in their collections). Which other houses (or groups of houses) would you all like to see in the 2013 list?

- - - Updated - - -

A happy, healthy and prosperous 2013 to you all!

I thought it fitting to use Alytike's "A scent you have never worn before" idea for the first sync of 2013 as the symbol of opening new scented doors in the new year.

Working on the rest of the list... Ideas are still welcome, of course!
Great idea for a first synchronised Friday!

House etc ideas: How about L'Artisan Parfumeur, your favourite indie line, a Bertrand Duchaufour?

For the first sync of 2013 I've decided on Volutes EDT. I am wearing it for the first time and it is truly delightful, it will surely be added to my collection sometime.
I will have a rumage in my samples and see what I can find. Report back later.

Back again. I was given quite a few samples last year by the lovely I Hate Civet, so had a good look through them.

CD Ambre Nuit it will be.
Hello. Allure edp for me today. Received a sample of it when I purchased another Chanel, but have never given it any air until today. Pleasant enough.

Some ideas for synchs - a frag you associate with spring/summer/autumn/winter to tie in with changing seasons; sample lucky dip; I also like the 'House of ...' and 'Perfume created by ...' synchs (I like Maurice Roucel, Annick Menardo, Dominique Ropion).
For synch today, I've chosen a sample of Naomi Goodsir Cuir Velours that I received with a purchase from Luckyscent last month. We will see....

Edit: Well, Cuir Velours is very interesting. The leather is kid glove smooth, but with occasional whiffs of gasoline/petrol to rough it up. The immortelle is a wonderful addition, with it's syrupy sweet smell. Kind of a gourmand leather, with gasoline edges
post #15 of 235
For todays sync "A scent you have never worn before" I chose Profumum Rosae Mundi, which has notes of rose, patchouli, vetiver and cedar. Very unisex and not sweet at all, you definitely get a dose of vetiver. It's alright but there are other rose fragrances that I like a lot better.
I'm flattered at Bonsai choosing my suggestion to start 2013.

Synching in Ormonde Jayne Ta'if which is rosy in the style in which Lyric is rosy and how I like my rose based scents. Big, blowsy, jammy and dense without any souring green notes in there. I really adore Lyric but this is less expensive and I'm enjoying it just as much. When the Lyric's drained OJ Ta'if may well take its place
post #17 of 235
cestrum nocturnum's package, including the HDP tubereuse sample pass, has arrived just in time. Appropriately, I start with Tubereuse Virginal, which is "green" in both senses of the word—inexperience and the flower/leaf/stem naturalness. Far from that Sheldrake/Uncle Serge rococo variation Tubereuse Criminelle, yet clearly the unspoiled—or undespoiled—relative. Little does she know what lies ahead. A fracas perhaps (;

Alityke, not to be an enabler- but the Ta'if bath oil is also just gorgeous!

I came to BN completely Caron illiterate but have been working hard to remedy it- today I'm finally seeing what all the Tabac Blond fuss is about! Now I see. Something about the florals in the middle bothered me but now in the drydown, they have softened and the tabac is more pronounced. Lovely!
Thank you for the tip PL duly noted for future reference. My NY resolution is to refrain from fragrant purchases for 90 days to make me "shop my own wardrobe" and actually wear all my samples and report on them. I have many generous care packages which are in need of more love and who's donors deserve my detailed thoughts.

I do love a bath and body range I must admit
post #21 of 235
A recent purchase: Cuir de Lancôme. With the first spray I was a bit too careful I think. I just recognized a soft leathery note. It needs a little stickiness on the skin to disclose this hint of styrax-sweet and ylangy-luscious components; tamed by birch and lifted by iris. A nice and discreet fragrance.
Today I sampled Hermes Poivre Samarcande, a fragrance I had never worn before and will never wear again. Alas, cumin is not my friend.
Just realized there IS a sync for today .Well I was shopping TJ Maxx and nabbed a bottle of Bijan for men for $5 .Never triedit before so here goes (after all it's 11:10 pm here if I hate it I only am sticking it out for 50 minuites...) Spritz -spritz. Hmm. sorta pine-y soapy(fougere) with some zingy cloves. Definitely more masculine but not bad .Think I'll keep it (unless my Dad or my brother fall in love with it) This kind of gives the feel of chewwing pine needles.

Thank you for all the great ideas. I have entered most of them in the list, leaving out only a few which I though might be too restrictive.

I'd be glad to hear your ideas for the "Houses" syncs. Groups of houses also work well when otherwise we'd end up with a too small list of scents (or a house which many of us haven't explored).

Comments on the list are welcome as well as more ideas.
My warming scent is L'Air du Desert Marocain - woody, smoky, spicy, lovely. And I can at least imagine I'm somewhere exotic today instead of damp and dreary Yorkshire.
I have taken a different slant to the brief. MPG Eau des Iles, warm coffee and spice for a cold day.
Syncing today by testing Huitieme Art’s Fareb, thanks to the generosity of a very lovely Basenoter!

Dry, perfumey, ambery CUMIN – unfortunately not to my test (too curry spice-y), but definitely warming. Resinous notes are starting to come through, which I prefer, but still too much cumin
post #28 of 235
Serendipitously wearing SL Un Bois Vanille burnt caramel and vanilla. Yummy warming fragrance
post #29 of 235
Well, I needed this "warm-up" sync- Jicky for me today
post #30 of 235
I'm wearing Cinnabar today. So much warm, spicy, sexy goodness!
Thread Starter
My warm-up scent on Friday was Diptyque's Eau Lente. It was a blind buy for a ridiculously low amount and luckily I do love it. Warm, cinnamony goodiness without ever becoming really gourmand. Mmmmm....
I too wore Eau Duelle yesterday. I find it lasts rather well, still lingered a bit this morning!
I own fragrances from both noses, but more from Pierre so it will be one of his.
I have more from Mr Roucel, so will be one of his for me. Musc Ravageur perhaps. I think that will go well with the snow we're expecting tomorrow.
Okay, Pierre Boudan's Institut Tres Bien Tres Russe. This is available as a cologne but I bought blind on ebay the parfum version.

Feminite du Bois for me today.
I'm wearing L'Instant de Guerlain today. Maurice Roucel is the perfumer and the release year was 2003. It's a rich, honey-ed magnolia scent. Just lovely!

Notes: citrus honey, magnolia, jasmine, ylang ylang, amber
post #38 of 235
Musc Ravageur in the snow today. Mmmmmmm...
I gave Maurice Roucel's L for Lolita Lempicka some skin time today ,all day in fact. I enjoyed smelling of incense and giant vanilla wafer cookies.
Guerlain Winter Delice.
Hi girls. It is almost the end of Jan and this is the first time that I have checked in at the synch. Sorry. So busy with the new house. So, today, a bit predictable perhaps, but the lovely L'Eau D'Hiver for me!
Well, it was bound to happen, wasn't it? I'm Foustie's identical twin. I'm afraid winter doesn't inspire me much. Thank goodness for L'Eau d'Hiver, no thinking required! I'll think next week, I promise!

I have finally pulled out my vintage Nu EDP which I have neglected throughout 2012.
A winter warmer for me - Hypnotic Poison (any excuse)
I wore VC&A First the long honey drydown is rather cozy in winter and can be a bit much in humid southern US summers.

I 'warmed' myself with Byredo Pulp today.
Auntie Knit, nice to see you. Is everything all right in your world?
Going with some vintage tomorrow - Givenchy III, probably oldest in my collection by date of manufacture, and one of the few vintages I own. May treat myself to the parfum.
Well, sorry but since the site was down I couldn't remember what it was suppose to be.
I went with oldest by issue date ... and that would be Habanita from 1921. I love Habanita, but I seldom wear it to work. It feels too big, too bad-girl or something ... but I really enjoyed it today.
I wore Heliotrope Blanc by Piver.

I was standing in front of my bottles, trying to figure out which I purchased as first. I had to admit that I have absolutely no clue.

So I went with the other option and pulled out my decant of vintage Shalimar. If the label is right then it's from the 1920s. It is for sure the oldest scent I have.

- - - Updated - - -

The loudest fragrance I own(ed) is Shalimar Parfum Initial. It's one of the only two fragrances my co-workers ever notice on me (the other one being Coromandel). I've emptied my decant this morning and am enjoying it enormously on this cold winter day. Definitely FBW.
Wearing Gorilla Lust at the minute. Boy is it LOUD on first spray.... diffuses beautifully after a couple of hours
post #55 of 235
I'm wearing Fracas. Subtle it ain't!
Well, aren't we demure and shy today, lol! I'm also subtle in my whopping spray of Insolence EDT. Quiet refinement, I think that describes us well!
lipstick rose

Is that loud enough?

Have a great weekend girls. Moving into my new house this weekend so will hopefully have more time soon.
Good luck with your house move Foustie!
I'm going to synch with Foustie and put on my

lipstick rose

to support you in your house move from a distance..... lol x
post #60 of 235
Drat! Didn't have time to check the theme before leaving for work this morning, so missed the synch. Wore Calamity J, which, while not exactly a wallflower, isn't really loud either. Going to douse myself in Carnal Flower now - that's pretty loud, but it has a lovely voice.

Good luck Foustie!
