Has anyone noticed that many modern scents blend differently w/ skin chem than vintage?

I have been noticing with my more modern frags (Promesse a L'Aube, Cedre by SL, a Mitsouko EDP, a 3 yr old Chanel no. 5 Parfum, a few others) that there is an almost slinky, molecular synthetic feeling to the way they lay on the skin. They smell great but compared to my more vintage frags (Mitsouko PDT, vintage Arpege, an 80s Chanel No. 5 parfum) they do not seem to blend in as seamlessly, although they are more radiant. I am undecided about whether or not I like this. Anyone have any thoughts on what molecules are causing this effect, and whether or not they like it?

Welcome to posting, Dani.
I'm too dumb to know the answer, but big creds to you for asking what sounds like a uniquely posed question.
To be sure, "they ain't making them like they used to." I hope the smarties here will help parse the musks and mosses with specificity.
