New Fragrance: John Paul Gaultier - Le Beau Male for Men

Le Beau Male by Jean Paul Gaultier is a Aromatic Fougere fragrance for men. This is a new fragrance. Le Beau Male was launched in 2013. The nose behind this fragrance is Francis Kurkdjian. Top notes are wormwood and mint; middle notes are lavender, orange blossom and sage; base note is musk. (Yes, it's different.)
So this will be another micro variation on Le Male with the addition of a wormwood/absinthe note? The bottle looks pretty cool! Thanks for the info, I'll keep an eye out for it.

sans vanilla, which would make it quite a different beast.

Very nice. Thanks for the info.

Even though it's a flanker and looks a bit tamer, Kurkdjian probably won't disappoint.
Interesting, looking forward to trying this one!

We haven't gotten their last two releases (Kokorico and Kokorico Night) in the US yet.

So this will hit the US when, 2015?

I don't think that's a bad thing.

"Le Beau Male was launched in 2013"...
Sounds fairly revolting.
I'll give it a try. Kokorico was a huge dissapointment.

I'm guessing never.

Interesting pyramid. Thank you for the heads up. Look forward to trying. Packaging & bottle hideous kitschy trash as usual
post #15 of 76
thanks for the info, interesting notes and it's by Francis Kurkdjian, looking forward to try this

It will be available at Macy's early March and will be an indefinite exclusive.

The Macys by me has Kokorico though.

Did a double take... but yep, definitely there.

Oh! its a history then!!! How do we get hold of this now...
Do not have very high expectations but sounds better..lets see
post #19 of 76
I'm not really an orange blossom fan, but look forward to sampling this regardless.

BTW, Kokorico has been available online for US customers for awhile now. Its nice, but not that special.
I don't know if you weren't told by the marketing team, but they decided to not bring in Kokorico or the flanker of it. Beau should be at store level in the coming couple months. We already received the new Narciso L'eau and Elie Saab 30ml lmt ed, but that can't be sold until the new year. Wait until marketing, you'll get Beau...it smells great btw.
^Kokorico is quite a stinker.
This looks like the result of a wild and raunchy sex of Le Male & Fleur du Male. While all Le Male flankers are disappointing, Fleur du Male and its cologne version are very unique and different from each other, I'm interested to see how this one turn out

The bottle is ugly though, the color combination seems off. I prefer my Male completely naked like FdM
post #23 of 76
OMG! I have been waiting for something like this! Long live the Kurkdjian/Gaultier duo! Yes! Le Male, Fleur Du Male, and Le Beau Male! Cant wait to have this in my collection! JPG!!!
Sounds a WINNER, FKNG DOG I want this NAO.

A fusion of Le Male and Fleur du Male + Kurkdjian, should not dissapoint! (I think theyve had no success when they tried other perfumers instead of Kurkdjian in their fragrances)
This will be a definite pass for me as it has several notes I detest... Hope others enjoy it though...
I have tried this in 2013.

Where did you smell it?

What else is in the base besides musk? Unlisted vanillin?

How sweet is it (compared to ...)?
Very excited to try this. I used to love Le Male, but wore it too much and now I can't stand it. Hoping this is quite different, but equally as good as that one.
MFK made the original, hard to see this will be such a big difference. Time will tell.
Very interested (despite the awful bottles of the LeMale line) if this can capture both strong Mint, and strong neroli/orange blossom notes WITHOUT any excess candied-fruit aspects, or without the overly sweet base of LeMale.

And he should be capable of making a great spring/summer flanker of it by reduction, then addition.
I'm so pumped up for this! Le Male is a great frag, and this to emphasize a more "icy" attitude, are you kidding me? If this turns out to preserve the essential sexy Le Male vibe, while dancing with the icy factor, we got a big hit here.
Won't be running to pick this one up. But I will give it a fair shake and sample it when it comes out.
Sounds like Fleur Du male to me
Any of you inside folks have any information/have tried this yet?? I'm SOOOOO excited.
Macys will carry it this spring, skipping over Kokorico & Kokorico Night.
!00% certain of this.
It's nice that Macy's will have it, but a shitload of dudes will be buying this, a little bit of exclusivity might have been nice. This could be my clubbing scent for warmer weather, and it'd suck if half the dudes be wearing this
post #38 of 76
oh boy, ANOTHER le male flanker. like we dont have enough of them
post #39 of 76
I got an email today from The Perfume Shop to say that this is now in their stores in the UK and Ireland.
Smelled it today and it reminded me of a much sweeter version of Gucci Pour Homme 2, mixed with Joop Jump. Was alright, really fresh but nothing special. Was surprised how long it lasted too.

Btw the perfume shop had the new Davidoff The Game, but forgot all about it.
Oh cool. I'll check them both out tomorrow!

The last time I enjoyed a Davidoff fragrance though, was...uh...never.
UK guys are lucky. It's gonna be a while till this hit USA Macys.

Yeah, sans the vanilla? This is new territory for JpG. Curious to smell this.
Bottle looks awesome. Similar color design scheme to Pure Shot...which looks awesome.
Boots have this in stock now also. I tried it an hour ago. I hate to use the word again, but it really is incredibly generic stuff. It reminds me a lot of Boss Bottled. Perfectly pleasant, but profoundly unremarkable.

Haha!!! I am *so* not elitist! I rarely ever buy niche fragrances to be honest! What I don't like though, are wishy washy fragrances that smell like dozens of others. That's what Le Beau Male is to me.

I know what you mean. If one needs to sport one of those wishy washy fragrances, at the very least, get them on a good price ( if you just want something for work). I get that vibe from fragrances from Canali, Dunhill, and St Dupont ( among many other brands).

Those that have smelled it, do you like it more than Le Male?

I'll keep it short and sweet. But no, it's not better than Le Male.

I don't like Le Male at all, but at least it's unique and powerful. Le Beau Male is feeble and generic.
I tried it the other day, and, although I like Le Male (and Fleur du Male, which I thought was an excellent flanker), I agree with Riverwide: I'm afraid Le Beau Male smelt very ordinary to me. 'Generic' was the first word that came to mind...
Saw this at my local drug store, sadly no tester.

Sorry for the poor pic.

The house's last male frag, KoKo whatever, was a HUGE flop for JPG. Then went back to the torso flacon immediately.
Will snatch this up as soon as it comes available. Kokorico was available at Beauty Encounter soon after it was released. Have no doubt this will be available here soon.
I am surprised to see such poor reviews of Kokoriko. I think its wonderful take on chocolate is quite well done. Dry down is quite beautiful.

I own it and like it too.
Thanks for sharing, included this one on my test list.
Was able to try it today, not good. Boring and generic, reminds me of one of the many sport scents that came out last year, just not sure which one.
I'm surprised at the amount of generic references. This has a noticeable mint & absinthe accord in the top notes, which is hardly a common aspect of designer scents.

I thought it was better than Le Male. Projection and longevity seem above average.
