Name a gourmand better than New Haarlem.

New Haarlem smells delicious. There are a lot of gourmands, but New Haarlem could be the king. What's your pick?

To the OP, I love New Harlem. Still there are many scents that are just as good. Though I guess it is all down to the individual. The smell of New Harlem alone isn't something I rate that highly. It's great but not beyond some valid criticism, as it smells a little synthetic. The major projection and longevity win it huge points though: there are few scents that perform as well keeping you smelling good and projecting noticably all through a long night out.

Nowhere near as pricey, but just as good - for me, given my vanilla fetish - is Molinard's Vanille (not the newer, orientalist reformulation) which is - admittedly - crazy-niche as it's straight vanilla and nothing else (save a little heliotrope in the base) but for me that's bliss. The older one smells more natural and the boozy edge it has at first fades quickly, while the newer one retains it (boozy vanillas aren't my preference) and it has monster sillage and longevity. Cheap bottle unfortunately, but a good price even though it's discontinued.

Chocolate Greedy is another I enjoy which also packs some major longevity and sillage.

This is such a subjective thing. Saying "better" implies that there is indeed something better, or that to you, NH is the best. I own it and love it, but it's not terribly versatile. I'd say TV is better.

Tonka Imperiale would be my shout.

IMO NewHaarlem is King on those gourmand

Michael Jordan Legend is actually better than NH to me.

Yeah I said it!!!!

I agree with hednic Absolu de Vanille is a great gourmand, with it's plasticky vanilla vibe. The drydown is very good.

I prefer the coffee note in Givenchy Play Intense over New Haarlem's.

I love Rochas man
+1 on MJ legend and play intense
I have not smelled new Harlem, (gasp!) but I know I would like it.

New Haarlem is just a hit too 'Foodesque' for me. Like pancakes with syrup and cinnamon, dipped in tea.

Once i would say , there are lot of them.... today i will say , hard question.

Back to Black ( i would say equal ) , Pure Havane ( or Ambre Narguile ) , but this fight is honey against coffee , so there is only one question do u prefer honey based or coffe based frag.

Serendipity at 1/10th the price of New Haarlem or Montale Red Aoud at half the price...

Not necessarily better than New Haarlem, since I can hardly compare these two, but among the best gourmands ever known by me, Endymion by Penhaligons is ranked quite highly.

Guerlain Double Vanille
ANY gourmand - almost - is better than NH.
Frapin 1270. NH is just a cloying mess.
New Haarlem might be too gourmand for it's own good. I like the versatility of some of the other gourmands mention here like DV, TV and Rochas.

I owned a and love New Haarlem but you can only wearing in certain occasions. From the same house I LOVE NY for all is more versatile, if you can get pass the warm milkshake scent.

I guess when Double Vanille and Tobacco Vanille are already suggested here and this is a democratic community my suggestion for Homme Jaipür EDP isn't that shocking isn't it?

And after all... It's just about fragrances, don't know why you have to make a fuss about it.

I can't. New Haarlem is the king.
