So, what did Santa bring you this year?

Welcome to JohnTheBeginner's fourth annual 'Wot I Got' thread

For my part, I won't know for another 18 hours or so, but Since I've starting moving into niche territory, the kind of things I want are a bit beyond what we consider reasonable for Xmas. I have hinted at Cartier's Declaration Cologne (for day to day office wear) though.

Over to you guys. What's on your list (Xmas Eve only), and what did you get (Xmas day & beyond)...

Do share with the rest of us... \t\t\t\t\t\t

I'll be pooling my Christmas money together. Probably for an Amouage. Possibly Epic Man.

Waiting for Dior Eau Sauvage Fraicheur Cuir to get here in the mail ( I meant Santa's sleigh).

50ml bottle of By Kilian's Back to Black (for £65 "refill" price, see my Harvey Nicks thread).

Also 5 - 10ml decants of the following (many purchased from our very own Dr.Creed) -

Musc Ravageur
Fumerie Turque
CdG Avignon
Oud Cuir d'Arabie
Messe de Minuit
Odori Tobacco
Interlude Man
Borneo 1834

Should keep me going for a while!!!

I will gladly accept any additions that find their way into my collection.

I was told a bottle of Amouage Ubar is making its way to me all the way from Dubai.

Chanel, Egoiste direct from Chanel, that black bag they give you is great to store stuff in for sleep overs or trips!

Too soon to tell

Ah, well, you see, where my wife is from, the present giving happens at sundown on Christmas Eve (which traditionally was when the new day started, so that was the start of Christmas Day).

Hence Santa has already brought me this:

And he brought the new La Collection version of this for my wife:

She tells me she never liked the original, but this latest formulation is one of her new favourites.

Apart from the usual sweets, clothing/accessories, I am grateful and excited thanks to the Christian Lacroix La Nuit gift set just received, including the EDT, the after shave balm and the shower gel.

My case: I asked for YSL M7 or Terre d'Hermes, and got M7 (current "Oud Absolu" formulation). Some Basenoters say that the formula may have been tweaked compared to original/vintage M7, but I don't smell much, if any difference (and I owned 2 bottles of the original formulation). It still smells as amazing as ever on my skin. Other non-fragrance gifts: cold-weather clothes and shoes/boots, Dave Barry stuff (not the sexiest man alive, but the funniest), a Wi-Fi external hard drive for my geeky side, and a new wallet.

As for others in the family: I got Prada Candy for my mother (who is a fan of Prada's original fragrance), and she likes it a lot. My father doesn't wear fragrances, but I did get him a Mumford & Sons CD.

Really didn't need anything, but received 14 100ml bottles of Molinard fragrances for my collection which brought my Molinard total to 21.

Had a good chunk of change to spend on myself for Christmas so I picked up a 120ml bottle of Original Santal, 75ml of Acqua Di Parma's Mirto di Panarea, a 100ml backup of Gucci Pour Homme II, 50ml bottle of Spicebomb, 50ml L'Air du Desert Marocain and 120ml bottle of Gendarme. Now I just gotta wait for them to all come in the mail lol. Got some nice clothes from the family and some more workout supplements, etc.. Good Christmas this year

I asked for Guerlain L'Heure Bleue EDP and that's what I got! I actually got it a few weeks earlier as an early gift from my Mom and have been wearing it. It's a confidence booster to wear such a masterpiece that IMO is barely a unisex frag out during my day. I LOVE IT!!!
It's lovely , but a shame it's been reformulated to a shadow of it's former beauty. I would love to sniff some vintage LHB.

If it counts I bought myself bell jars of MKK and Ambre Sultan. I decided heck with the price since it's Christmas. My family doesn't understand my love of fragrance so I never get gifts in this category.

My current bottle of Hammam Bouquet was down to less than a quarter of an inch, so I got a new 100ml bottle of it. It is the one scent that I haven't been without for 20 years.

John what have you sent me? I haven't had anything off you. A lease option would do me

I got some of my chrissie presents a few weeks early:

Guerlain SDV (I am seriously in love with the bottle)
SL Un bois Vanille
Donna Karen Black Cashmere

I bought myself some stuff (on sale, couldn't resist):

Diptyque Eau duelle
L'Artisan Mimosa pour moi

Received some:
Hypnotic poison
Flowerbomb
Gucci Flora

Wish I had received:
Profumum Roma acqua e zucchero
Farmacia ss vanigla

Can't complain though, got a good haul this year and still have cash for a few more.

Have a fragrant Christmas one and all!

So now that Christmas has been for all and gone for a lot of us Basenoters...what did the big man in the red suit with the white beard bring for y'all?
A slew (14) of Molinard fragrances to add to my collection.
The gf got me Ambre 114 and Montale Full Incense, and I bought my self a big bottle of Amouage Interlude Man.

My folks were nice enough to get me a gift certificate to Barney's, no idea yet what I'll put it towards. Maybe some Malle.

My girlfriend got me a new bottle of Chanel Égoïste
Had a slight reformulation scare when testing it, but it seems that the dinner and wine 5 mins earlier had messed with my nose. Now it still smells like like the current Égoïste.

Well, I'm equally disappointed in you.

Where's my JV IC HMO?

(special bonus point to any other Basenoter who can translate this dialogue!).

Anyhooo... Santa brought me Cartier Declaration rather than Cartier Declaration Cologne (methinks he might be a little hard of hearing these days!). Gratefully received notwithstanding. One of my favourite designer scents.
I'm new to fragrances and BN, but Santa brought me:

Egoiste
Dior Homme
Knize 10
Habit Rouge
nothing from the fume-sphere.. I buy fragrances all the time so I understand why.
My girlfriend got me Dior Homme sport (100 ml, old reformulation) and my parents got me Dior Fahrenheit Absolute (100 ml). Incredibly happy with these two fragrances as I love them Also got many other various gifts from my family and girlfriend.

My bf got me a 10ml atomiser of each of the three Lush/Gorilla Perfumes fragrances that l asked for; Vanillary, Ginger & 1000 Kisses Deep. l had used up my previous ones & missed having them in my wardrobe.

He also got me a large Archipelago fragranced candle in Mojito; it smells just like Virgin lsland Water!

I was very impressed with my nephew's choice of fragrance as a present for me this year.
He's not really into fragrances and hasn't expressed much interest in them in the past, but twice now, he's surprised and impressed me.

A couple of years ago, he bought me Bulgari Black, and this year I got Floris No.89.
There's promise there, it just needs to be nurtured..

What did you guys get that impressed or disappointed??
I received Advant Garde. Not bad. Exact replica scent of Ted Lapidus Altamir. Also received Lalique Pour Homme. Sending this one back. Didn't like that one. Also received Hani Mori HM. That's another one that is going back. Happy Holidays Everyone!

Santa brought me a nice amount of cash. Hence I'm reactivating my forum participation. It's destined to be a very fragrant amount of cash.

My partner bought me 100ml Marcus Jacubs Dot (Giftset). I have always liked Marcus Jacub and love the bottles they come in...very creative and they are always the centre piece of my perfume shelf. Very happy

A bit late for Christmas, more of a b-day present, but my wife just let me get myself GIT and I'm looking at a Tobacco Vanille purchase in the next few weeks. Nice birhtday gifts, huh?
