New fragrance from Davidoff: The Game

Thread Starter
Launching soon: The Game from Davidoff. A woody aromatic signed by nose Bernard Ellena of Symrise.

Notes: Juniper berry, Gin Fizz accord, iris, precious woods, ebony.

The poker chips-inspired bottle is a nice touch.

The press release even includes a little poem:

Never underestimate the stakes.
Always play fair.
Master the rules and leave nothing to chance.
Because life is a game and the winner takes it all.

Well the bottle looks cool, maybe a bit cheesy like something you would buy in a Vegas gift shop. I like it though and the gin/juniper notes sound nice. I am a martini fan, so I could see spraying this on and hitting the casinos in the middle of the night!

Time to play the game...

Davidoff seem to be focusing on their bottles (Champion was a dun-bell) rather than the juice, but if it works for them then great.

The game's bottle is a nice idea, although a touch cheesy, but if the juice is good who cares right?

Coming soon to a TJ Maxx near you: The Game

The notes sound good to me : Juniper berry, Gin Fizz accord, iris, precious woods, ebony
The bottle looks great as well. Like the idea.

Hope this game doesn't fold!

Thanks for the info. Will be looking out for it.

The notes seems promising and the bottle looks cool.

I hope Davidoff is going to nail it again like what they did wonderfully on Zino.

Like the notes and love the bottle.
I find the bottle childish.

They should get Triple H for the commercial.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought of him when I saw the title.

I'm really like... lol when look at the bottle. I'll buy the game for the bottle alone! and gin notes, I love the smells of Gin but hate to drink it anyway

I didn't think of some wrestler (I had to look him up). I thought of the Queen track "Play The Game". If there is a TV ad campaign, whats the chances that track gets used?

How is Bernard related to Jean-Claude?
i hope the gin opening lasts longer than juniper sling

This is now in branches of Boots in the UK.

Juniper Berries, then a undercurrent of powderyness joins in that quickly becomes soapyness before being joined by what I've always associated with dihydromyrcenol. After about an hour the soapyness, or should I say the smell of laundry products becomes pretty much all that is perceivable. This last note is going to be one of those musks they put in Lenor/Downy, but at least its not one of the more nasty smelling ones.

No woods to speak of.

Hmm, sounds like everything I hate! I'll still give it a try.

Available at John Lewis, Debenhams, TPS, TFS and comes with a free Weekender bag.

This should be at discounters very soon.

Smelled it today in Boots. Another 1 Million clone. This is getting beyond a joke now.

Coming to a local TK Maxx this Christmas...

Wonder when this will make it across the Atlantic.
This seems to be available in fragrancedirect.co.uk. I'm tempted to buy blind.... 40 ml bottle only 24,99 GBP.

I tried it last week. It smells like something you'd hang in the rim of a toilet bowl.

If you're anywhere near Boots' fragrance section any time soon, this will be damn near inescapable. I reluctantly let one of the SAs show me what it was like, and it smells like an Glade interpretation of 1 Million.
damn. i was hoping it would be a cool water flanker.

said no one ever...
Also, nobody ever said that TV fragrance ads were great pieces of art, but this one looks like a promotion for some Poker show airing in the middle of the night.

Truly terrible.
Looks like game over.
^^ The ad is probably on the same "cheesy" level as 1 Million.
I have seen many bottles that look worse IMO.
The bottle in real life is much worse than it looks in photos. It feels and looks really cheap. Can't get over how similar it smelled to 1 million. Giving this one a total miss.
It's just meh but very Davidoffish.
I guess it's better as it gets very bad first impressions from people, won't buy it blind.

The worst fragrance I've tried this year. It's been obviously top loaded to impress you straight of the bat. Turned into a synthetic generic mess after 30 minutes. That familiar cheap dry down that comes with many Hugo Boss scents.
