So I got a gift card for Christmas.......

First off, wonderful forum! I am happy to be a new member here.

Now, to the task at hand. I received a $150.00 Macy's gift card for Christmas. I think I'm going to use it for one or two designer frags. Gentlemen, I would love some suggestions.

Here is what I already own:

Green Irish Tweed
Original Santal
Bois Du Portugal
Aventus
Himalaya
Silver Mountain Water
Royal Oud
A*Men Pure Havane
A*Men Sunessence
Gucci Pour Homme (Original old school)
Gucci Pour Homme (Brown Tom Ford era juice)
Gucci Pour Homme II
Gucci Envy
Givenchy Xeryus Rouge
Dior Fahrenheit
Dior Eau Sauvage
Marc Jacobs Bang
Michael Jordan Legend
Givenchy Play
Facconable
Lalique Encre Noire
Versace The Dreamer
Juicy Couture Dirty English
Chanel Egoiste
Chanel Allure Homme Sport
Cartier Must De Cartier
Cartier Declaration
CK One Shock

I've been eyeballing Prada Amber Pour Homme Intense for a while now. It seems to work pretty well on me. Should I snatch up a big bottle of that, or the big bottle with the atomizer? Or, based on what I already own, are there some other things I should try?

sell the gift card and use the money to buy the fragrances online for half the price

as for suggestions to youre already impressive collection:
one million, la nuit, midnight in paris, new haarlem

Among my favorites at Macys are Aramis 900 (resinous spicy and patchouli) and Tuscany (herbal). Recently, there are also the Cuir flankers to the Mugler line, especially Angel Cuir, which is quite masculine and robust.

I don't really want to go through the hassle of selling the gift card. As far as your suggestions, I have sniffed out Midnight in Paris. I liked it a lot. But, I don't think they sell it at Macy's. What do you think about the Amber Pour Homme Intense?

Sorry for the double posted threads guys. Can the Moderator please merge the two?

From Macy's I would suggest Chanel Allure Homme Edition Blanche (the best Allure IMO), Dior Homme, YSL L'Homme and Pure Leather (Mugler).

Aramis? I've never spotted 900 st my Macy's before. And is Pure Leather the same thing as Angel Cuir?
I've noticed Macy's has a lot of variance as far as how much they stock in the way of fragrances. The one near my house only has a hand full of the top selling fragrances around a small kiosk. The Macy's just 25 miles north has what seems to be an entire floor of fragrances/makeup spread out, including a lot of older type designer fragrances (E.g. Aramis and its many iterations). So there's that.

As far as your other question I am talking about Angel Men Pure Leather, not to be mistaken with any of the women's versions. You can verify on the Mugler site. It's definitely a try before you buy.

And welcome to basenotes!

The two are great ones, both. I'll add Terre d'Hermes as one to look into.

Some Macy's carry the whole Aramis line, some only the regular Aramis and the inferior new Aramis Gentleman. So it depends.

Pure leather and Angel Cuir are different frags. I think pure leather is A*Men with a touch of leather. Angel Parfums du Cuir, theoretically, is Angel (for women) with leather, but in fact it comes off as a nice rich leather, deep with woods and patch, sweetish but not particularly gourmand. To me, both are excellent, but pure leather seems very close to A*Men, of which you have already two variations, while Angel Cuir would be a bit different.

I agree with the 1 Million suggestion. It's a nice one, in spite of getting bashed quite a bit here.
It is like the *only* sorta sweet scent that I enjoy. And people claim it is "too common," and "everyone's wearing it."
I have yet to smell it on anyone, anywhere. But that could be because I don't go to clubs and such.

I heard it was really hard to find these in department stores. I've never seen this one sold so I may have to check out Macy's sometime. Thanks!

I know my Macy's does not have Allure Edition Blanche. When it comes to Dior Homme, there is a Sephora close to me that has the vintage juice.

That suggestion is just plain out wrong. To even suggest he sell a gift that someone was nice enough to give is thoughtless at best.

Macy's is really hit or miss. I'd buy something from the Dior or Chanel lines if I were going to spend $150.00.

Get the Prada Amber Pour Homme Intense to start and try and pick up Jaipur Pour Homme and if you can squeeze in a Dior Homme you got a nice designer list.

A very underated gem to pick up from Macys would be Ferragamo Black. Excellent frag man! Check it out.

So I got home and realized, I also have Must de Cartier, Cartier Declaration, and CK One Shock to add to the list of what I own. Now with Dior Homme, would it be better for me to try to snag the vintage juice from Sephora, or snatch up the current form at Macy's if they have it?

The vintage Dior Homme has been long gone from Sephora's in my neck of the woods. Honestly, I wouldn't bother going out of your way to get the vintage. The reformulation is very nice and unless iris is your favorite note the reform outperforms the vintage.

Thanks for the heads up! Tonight is the night. I'm going to drop by my Macy's after work and we'll see what I come out with. Thanks to everyone for your input.
