Tobacco Vanille and Noir de Noir

Please, help me by rationalising my first blind buy.

Unfortunately, I have no opportunity to get a sample of TV and NdN.
It is not available in my area and if I have to get a sample, I should probably go to Holland or drive 6 hours.

I decided to buy blind (No risk, no fun).

I actually like Back to Black (By Kilian) and heard that it is similar to TV (not the smell, but the purpose).

As I heard, Noir de Noir smells like dark rose with chocolate ---> sexy, dark and mysterious

And Tobacco Vanille smells like Vanilla with Tobacco with a great longevity and projection (Noir de Noir should be also strong).

Which should I get?

For me, it is important, that I have a great longevity, projection and my purpose is wearing it for special and intimate occasions in the winter or cold days.

Thanks.

Great buys you won't be disappointed!!! They both last 10hrs+ on me. They're both different. But I see TV as the heavier hitter.

Either one although Back to Black which you like is better than both IMO

Tobacco vanille is on my wish list....

Okay, let me break it down this way since I have a 25mL decant of TV and a 4ml sample of NdN (hoping to get more soon):

TV is a fairly safe buy. It's very sweet, and its tobacco note does, in some ways, resemble the one in BtB, but I find it more prominent. The vanilla is stunning, and the spices that surround it make it one of the best fragrances I've ever smelled, as well as my top gourmand by a longshot.

NdN, on the other hand, is more challenging to wear for me, but arguably more stunning. The sparkling rose is so bubbly and fresh it's reminiscent not of grandmothers, but of rose bushes soaked in beads of dew. Then, the chocolate backs it up. It's not sweet, but rather more of a cocoa scent that lingers in the back, while occasionally mixing directly into the rose something akin to the raspberry note in Tuscan Leather. It's beautiful, but I wouldn't blind buy it.

Thanks..How would you compere TV to BtB??

There could be a thread about TV vs. BtB like that.. But I have not found a new thread about that.

A comparison would be great.

P.S. In Germany, BtB (175€) is cheaper than TV (190€, when ordering online in Holland).

I swear, TV, is an extraordinary fragrance. I lasts all day and evening on my dry skin. I get wonderful wafts of it throughout the day. I it by far, my most favorite, of the Tom Ford Line.

Due to their price, I would recommend not buying blindly. However, if you must, I would recommend getting in on one of the splits of these fragrances here on Basenotes. It's MUCH cheaper that way (you'll save around $100 per 1.7 oz bottle), and if you decide you don't care for one of them, you won't be out as much money. And if you love them and decide you want to buy your own bottle, you can always do that, too.

I prefer Tobacco Vanille. I believe it is safer.

TV easily of the two Tom Fords (a line I am not too fond of generally), but I prefer Back to Black which is similar to TV, but a more complete scent IMO.

I don't see many similarities to BtB really, mostly because I get cherry and lots of honey from BtB, whereas I get vanilla and spices mostly from TV. Again, I wouldn't blind buy BtB either, mostly because it can be a little much for some.

I honestly do not like TV. Did not live up to the hype. Definitely a try first scent. As for the other, I cannot say.

Tobacco Vanille is a fantastic pick IMO.

Tobacco Vanille is the safer blind buy, and superior fragrance.

Haven't tried NdN but definitely prefer Tobacco Vanille over Back to Black.

Great longevity with TV and monster projection but NdN doesn't seem to last on my skin

NdN!

tobacco vanille is absolutely awesome. I would sample first thought because of the price. And because it doesnt only smell like tobacco and vanilla, there are a bunch of spices in there as well.

I wouldn't suggest a blind buy, especially for the cost of TF scents. I would sample first. NdN is my personal fave of the two though.

I love the opening of Tobacco Vanille because the scent is true to the name. However later into the drydown, sadly, the tobacco disappears and it's just Vanille. I sure wish they put some tobacco in the base too.

I like TV better than BTB. BTB had a bit of hay covered in honey vibe to me. NdN...just didn't enjoy it as much as TV. TV is more masculine, robust and easier to wear.

If you like b2b then you might like TV. Noir de Noir is more of a rosy scent and you might not be into that genre.
