Fragrance of the year

Thread Starter
What was your most important fragrance of this year??? Whether by the scent, compliments, or any other reason in particular. The fragrance that marked your year. Worn in a very important situation or a date.
Mine is 1 million!

The most used, complimented this year:
Aventus
DHI
Midnight In Paris
La Nuit De L'Homme
Not the most used, neither the most complimented, nor the most expensive, the most exclusive etc. either, also not a 2012c release, yet nevertheless an underrated gem, with a surprisingly pleasant and stylish development once applied: L'Erbolario Neroli.

1. Grossmith Golden Chypre - Absolutely stunning, my fragrance of the year without hesitation.

2. Eau de Patou. Finding another bottle and becoming reacquainted has been marvellous.

3. Rive Gauche PH. The Epiphany - finally "getting it" after many failed attempts.

I'm limiting myself to fragrances presented to the public in 2012, but unfortunately there are quite a few that I think may be great, which I have not yet experienced.

So far it's Eau Sauvage Parfum.

Mine would be (only full bottle listed):
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Aventus by Creed (worn in work-related social functions)
L'Instant de Guerlain by Guerlain (worn to work)
Michael for Men by Michael Kors (for dates with wife; I like it so much I had to hunt for the vintage)

Hon. Mention: Silver Mountain Water by Creed - The scent is really nice and unique, and my wife really likes this.

I purchased them in the first quarter of 2012, and worn them with regularity throughout the year.

Gengis Khan - but difficult to be sure.

I found straight to heaven this year.
This was the first full year after my interest in fragrances exploded, so I've had quite a few in my collection to choose from. But the one I probably wore most, and felt the most me this year, is Dior Homme.
CARTIER - Pasha (vintage) .
hardly a surprise...Dior Homme Intense.
I only started having an interest in frags from the beginning of this year, so all of my discoveries have been in 2012, and I'm going to give it to Gucci pour homme II; my favourite frag I've tried so far.

Honourable mention to DHI

Polo Double Black, It has been my most complimented fragrance for the year.
Dior Ambre Nuit for me
It's a really difficult call, as I discovered so many great fragrances this year. If I had to pick one that stands out the most, however, I'd have to go with LIDGE. Not for compliments, most worn, or any other "external" reason, but simply because I finally "discovered" it and found it to be one of my absolute, all-time favorites. I have a feeling it will be getting plenty of wear early in 2013!

L'essence De Cerruti for me.............
Most significant overall find/sniff this year was Portrait of a Lady by EdP Frédéric Malle in February that absolutely wowed me from the very first sniff in Las Vegas and quickly became my favorite scent seemingly out of nowhere.

Most significant 2012 new release was the late year release Tzora by Anat Fritz, sniffed earlier this month from a sample sent completely on an impulse request from LuckyScent with no knowledge or expectations whatsoever that knocked the great Terre d'Hermès out of my Top 10 list, something I would have sworn would never be possible.

Living in hot and humid Miami, FL i have used and enjoyed this one the most out of my collection.

Dhi

New to me this year and most worn was Eau de Guerlain
post #42 of 47
I would choose Mitsouko as it started my adventure in unisex/feminine fragrances and was the first one I wore in public.
Encens Mythique d'Orient would be the standout 2012 release for me, although Songe d'un Bois d'Ete and Mito are equally intriguing and original creations.

Other notables IMHO - Myrrhe et Delires, Interlude Man, Opus VI & Seville a l'Aube.
