Which of these is the best between the two. If I was to slap money on one which one would be the better buy and what is the difference between the two?

To be frank, when it comes to slapping your own money down, you should be asking your nose not asking other people - sample them and decide for yourself. It's a very subjective choice, and both fragrances have their followers - for what it's worth, I'm currently wearing the standard, which I prefer to the Extreme.

Good luck finding Extreme. I have been surfing the net looking for a bottle or decant.

L'Instant de Guerlain pour Homme Extreme by far.

Extreme by far.
Harder to find in USA but can be had easily (call Guerlain Boutique in Toronto).

The Eau Extreme is better as it's an EDP it has much better longevity and sillage. You can find the 2.5oz. on Strawberrynet.com.

Can't miss with either IMO but if you can find the Extreme, that would be my choice.

Ideally, you should smell them both, compare, make your own decision, but it's true, the EdP is hard to find to experiment with.

I prefer the EdP but I don't find it that different from the EdT. For most people, having one or the other would be adequate. Of course, if you haven't smelled either, you may like neither.

Question is will the original satisfy my like for gourmand sweet fragrances?
I prefer the Extreme, but the EDT is more versatile and is easier on the wallet.

It's for sale on Amazon.

Both are great, high quality fragrances, but I much prefer the EDP (Extreme). I've done side-by-side comparisons with both, and they're really not all that different when it comes to overall scent. For me, however, the EDP is smoother, richer/deeper and has noticeably better longevity. The EDP turns down the citrus just a little & amps up the patchouli, woods & cocoa. For me, it was the EDT mastered. I like the EDT but absolutely love the EDP, and think the drydown is one of the best ever.

Guess I should have mentioned I dont know any trusted perfume vendors on amazon or eBay. I got stuck w an old/stale frag once. However I see i can call Guerlain boutique in Toronto and get some of the juice. I hope they will send me a sample or two before I buy.

guys, the Toronto Guerlain store is good. Valerie, who I would consider a friend, is the manager and knows how to treat customers well. Especially if you're anywhere in Canada, call them up for samples and send them your business where possible, they're a good team here. Actually they'll be hosting the next fragrance-head gathering here in a few weeks, just for example.

if anyone has inquiries or needs Guerlain help, PM me and I'll speak directly with the store.

Have LIDG but I am still anxious to try LidgE. I would hope when I do that the smell matches all the hype. I hope it does.

The duty free shop in the Houston had two bottles last week when I was in there as well, if I recall correctly. They were $71.

How much does LIDGE cost from the Toronto boutique including shipping?
I prefer LIDG actually. The extreme has a very dense feeling to it that I couldn't stand.

The average nose will have a hard time knowing the difference between the two. I

f you have some extra cash and wanna spoil yourself, go with Extreme. Otherwise, go with the regular.

I must tell you that I am extremely pleased with the service from the Toronto Guerlain Boutique. The samples arrived today. Well packed in bubble package. Each sample of ample size and labeled. I'll be testing these tomorrow :-)

I would only buy and/or wear L'Instant Extreme (EdP).

Cheers,
