You've Been Shawshanked!!

A guy on a radio station I listen to has verbed "The Shawshank Redemption." It works like this: You're skimming over the TV, when you come across a movie. It doesn't matter where in the movie it is, it doesn't matter what else you're watching, it doesn't matter what time it is...you HAVE to watch it the rest of the way. Shawshank is that movie for many, many people...so whenever this happens to him, he says, "(Title of movie) Shawshanked me last night!!"

What movie(s) Shawshanks you?

The first one that comes to mind for me is "Oceans 11" with Clooney et al.

Other than Shawshank, which Shawshanked me the other week actually, many of the Star Wars movies, Cliffhanger, Predator, Total Recall, you get the idea. I do appreciate more, uh, respectable films...just can't watch them on TV with commercials. You can semi-pay attention to cheesy movies and still enjoy them.

There's nothing wrong with watching a movie more than once or twice.... in response to the topic, Back to the Future, Pleasantville, LOTR are just some of the movies that come to mind. Excellent movies, IMO.

Thought of another one: The Bourne Identity.

Might television shows qualify? Whenever I run across Buffy the Vampire Slayer reruns I am totally sucked in, even if it's my least favorite episode/season/story arc. And even though I own the entire 7 seasons on DVD and have watched them all the way through 3x. *sheepish grin*

ETA: For that matter, anything by Joss Whedon seems to have that effect on me.

Oh, also LOTR & Pulp Fiction, for sure.

And Kevin Costner baseball movies: Bull Durham, Field of Dreams...

Nah. Now if you had decided to stay up and watch it even though you had planned on going to bed, it would've been. As it stands, you just recorded a movie to watch at a more convenient time. Shawshanking throws your timetable and convenience under the bus.

^^Wow!!

I think I have to add another: Iron Man. I'm not totally there yet, but it's ALWAYS on FX, and I find myself stopping there more and more.

Had to laugh...was Shawshanked by Shawshank last week. Only 30 minutes left in the movie, but I had to watch it. Then--and this is the point of the thread--was Shawshanked by Shawshank again the NEXT NIGHT. Caught it about 30 minutes into it this time.
