Is the tin can Rive Gauche PH really going away?

I keep seeing more of the new style bottle version popping up, and the price on the tin can bottles seem to keep dropping every week. (On Amazon specifically it has gone from $36, to $34 and now $30 I have two of the cans, but if it really is going away, I'd pick up one more to be safe since I love this one so much. Does anyone know if it is really disappearing?

I believe that YSL are only producing this now in the new cube shaped bottles. I cannot say whether the formula has changed.

Any tin can bottles are most likely old stock that will eventually disappear.

If you like Rive Gauche it's time to stock up on the vintage tin can version as reports of the juice in the new bottle are not favorable.

They are very different IMO. I am going to buy at least 2 cans in the next few weeks

I haven't been able to try the new version, but that sure is unfortunate. Also the big price jump on a smaller bottle is my main reason for wanting to get more of the original. Looks like I will be adding a third can to my collection after all!

Yes, it is now part of "La Collection" along with Jazz, PH, and M7. They come in 80ml bottles and cost around 3x the price. Rumor has it that the formula has changed also, for the worse.

I understand some of the reasons companies reformulate, but Rive Gauche PH has been a top seller in it's original formulation for years, why bother it? YSL leave it alone! I guess I better buy some back up stock!

luckily i got myself a tin can of rive gauche.

i'm honestly not wearing it too much, so i could probably sell it for a good price in a few yeara

Where I live, it's not hard to find a can of the original Rive Gauche. I got one for myself for just $25 (120ml, unboxed), and I can find more in NYC's fragrance district (Price varies, though, it could go as high as $45).

The 125ml cans are dirt cheap if you look hard enough. Do NOT pay £58 for 40ml less of reformulated juice.

Very true.

cans are already going for more than $100 on ebay lol.

Goodness. What has happened to YSL? Reduction in quality, higher pricess and less juice. It is heart breaking.

You're not convinced that the metal can is discontinued? Official retailers and YSL's web site only show the La Collection version:

I think it's safe to assume that any cans out there still are old stock that has been dumped onto the gray market to clear inventories or something like that.

Anyone link the previous thread about the new bottle/possible reformulation? Not trying to be a thread nazi, but it might be informative. I'd like a read over myself.

I am planning to start stocking up a few tin can bottles.

Me too. Better to be safe than sorry

I bought a 125ml can, but I've not opened it yet as I have a relatively large collection.
I've not bought it cheap, but as others had very good impression of it I went with that!
You all are teasing me to buy another one! (is it my obsession buying more bottles of the ones I have?)

Well, I don't need any more convincing, I just placed my order for a third bottle. I almost got a little greedy and made it a double, but I think three bottles will be plenty.

My bottle which I got way back in 04 just recently finished. I picked up a tin can bottle at the mall recently for $25. I'm saving up right now, so cash is a bit tight right now. When I get the chance, I'm planning on picking up a few more bottles to stock.

A classic.

Going to have to get a bottle or two.

There's still plenty on eBay. Actually, I didn't see a listing for the new version at all. You can get authentic ones on eBay for $34 shipped.

I have one for sale in sale section. Bought blind as normal and cant stand the smell. I had one small spray to see what the raving reviews are all about and what a shock.

Saying of blind buys I rarely have problems with blind buys but I guess I was blinded with all these positive reviews and didnt do research properly.

I just bought a second can with the body wash included for $35. Cant wait to try the bodywash.
