So tough to only pick 10, but if forced these might be the mix I would go with for some variety...

Portrait of a Lady
by EdP Frederic Malle (reference rose floral)
Giorgio for Men (vintage) by Giorgio Beverly Hills (80s powerhouse)
Tzora by Anat Fritz (citric woody chypre)
Patou pour Homme Prive
by Jean Patou (reference lavender fougere)
Les Nombres d'Or Vetyver by Mona di Orio (woody vetiver)
Lalfeorosa by O'driu (spicy floral)
Cuiron by Helmut Lang (reference suede leather)
Monsieur de Givenchy (vintage) by Givenchy (all-around/formal classic chypre)
Polo

Eau de Patou
by Jean Patou (classic citrus)

Creed Royal English Leather
Bond No. 9 Bleecker Street
Bond No. 9 New Haarlem
Amouage Jubilation XXV
by Kilian Straight to Heaven
by Kilian Incense Oud
CdG Avignon

because of the limit to 10, versatility is a factor that comes more into play, and weaknesses like weak longevity are less forgivable).
No chance. I couldn't even cut it down to ten per season!

I could live with just first 4 but if I could pick 10 just for pure variety it would be probably:

Dior Homme Intense - comfort scent
L'Instant de Guerlain Extreme - versatile, sophisticated, masculine
Timbuktu - fresh, sophisticated
Gucci PH II - signature scent
Coromandel - classy scent
Sycomore - green vetiver scent
White Aoud - exotic, comfort scent
Al Oudh - exotic, dirty scent
L Air Du Desert Marocain - masculine, power scent
Dior Homme - formal scent
Creed Windsor - for the rose note if nothing else.
YSL Rive Gauche Pour Homme - the ultimate barbershop fragrance.
Borsari Aqua Classica - a nice Italian colonia, and I enjoy this more than Acqua di Parma.
L'Occitane Eau des Baux - my favorite winter scent.
Lubin Itasca - perfect for fall, I feel myself walking through the woods.
Hermes Terre d'Hermes - great work scent.
Creed Aventus - nothing else quite like this.
L'Occitane Eau des 4 Voleurs - magical, magical stuff. This scent makes me happy.
Tom Ford Tuscan Leather - need a leather here, and hard to choose between this and Knize Ten.

The last one would be a sandalwood. I'm currently waiting for Santal Noble and AOS Sandalwood to make a final decision on which I would take, but for now let's just put down Diptyque Tam Dao.

Most likely, 2 bottles of (almost any) citrus scents, 2 bottles of (preferably non-reformulated or vintage) powerhouse scents, 2 gourmands, 2 scents even more formal than any of the aforementioned categories, 1 "green"/grassy scent and also some very rare, unusual, quirky, creative, overly expensive, luxurious etc. niche, irrespective if the niche scents may already belong to the other existing categories as well or not.

I only own 10 fragrances at the moment so I could probably cut it down to 5. The list would be something like this:
Aventus
Dior Homme
Dior Homme Intense
YSL L'Homme
Bleu de Chanel / Platinum Egoiste (tie)
I'd pick 10 from the same house. I would be wavering between Guerlain and Lutens, but I would choose Lutens:

  • Gris Clair\t\t\t\t
  • Un Bois Vanille \t\t\t
  • Fille en Aiguilles
  • Cèdre
  • Rousse
  • Borneo 1834
  • Arabie
  • Chergui
  • Five O'Clock Au Gingembre
  • Vetiver Oriental

Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille
Bond No. 9 Silver Factory
Straight to Heaven
A*Men

Tom Ford Amber Absolute

I would have picked Virgin Island Water, but in my imaginary reasons for the need to have just 10 fragrances, I would run out way too quickly.

1. Straight to Heaven --> My signature scent and perfect for nights
2. Bvlgari Black --> mysterious, sexy and perfect schent for nights
3. Aventus --> Perfect for day and night especially, in the spring and summer
4. Absolue pour le Soir --> If Bvlgari Black and Musc Ravageur are sexy, AplS is sex
5. DHI --> Easier wear in contrast to niche fragrances
6. A Taste of Heaven --> long lasting and perfect day scent before wearing STH for nights

I think I don´t need 10 scents to be mysterious or interesting.
I couldn´t find other 4 interesting scents to make my full list.
