Male Scents with a Pleasing Civet Note

Thread Starter
Is there a male or female fragrance that has a pleasing or at least tolerable civet note? The ones I've smell this far are horrible. I have tried Jicky, Kouros and some others I cant recall.

Hmmm, maybe civet just isn't for you?

Some other fragrances with civet notes include Mouchoir de Monsieur, L'artisan Dzing, Dior Leather Oud, Kiehl's Musk, Muscs Koublai Khan and Musc Ravageur off the top of my head.

Agree. No harm in not liking a particular note.

Yet another seconding in favor of Mouchoir de Monsieur.

try the new EDT version of Jicky: I did not know what to think the first time I tried, but I tried it again and now find it to be addictive.

Civet is just not for me.

The easiest civet note to like is in Cuir Mauresque from Serge Lutens. If you don't like it there then no civet for you!

Leather Oud is quite pleasant.

but where can we smell a STRONG civet? maybe in some vintage men powerhouses? some example?

If you haven't liked civet in multiple frags you've tried, why would you want to keep trying ???

Jivago Connect for men
a bit like drakkar noir, but not an exact replica

I was going to suggest Givenchy Gentleman and Monsieur plus Mouchoir de Monsieur but if you don't like Jicky you may well not like Mouchoir de Monsieur (though I think it's better it does, like Jicky, smell a bit like faeces for 20 minutes or so)

Tempted to recommend you Amouage Gold myself - the manly man-version. It's got civet, but way less than for instance Kouros.

Creed Orange Spice has a smooth civet aura that envelopes you like a warm blanket. Nice.

I tell you what, supposedly civet is present in By Kilian Love. Now that is a very sweet, marshmallow fragrance, don't detect it there at all, but it is in the note breakdown. It's the only frag with civet in it that I don't find repulsive so far that I've tried.

Gendarme V. If there actually is civet in it, I sure as hell don't smell it.

For the education and the potential discovery of one you may like. I'm guessing he won't be blind buying any of these suggestions.

Dior Leather Oud is fairly tolerable as far as the civet goes.

Another vote for Mouchoir de Monsieur.

IMO, there is no such thing as a "Pleasing Civet Note". There are however, some decent fragrances that happen to have (small amounts of) civit in them - the more buried and minimal the civit note, the more pleasing the fragrance has a chance to be.

It sounds like you don't like it either, so maybe you should just do what I do -- avoid it. There are many other fragrances out there without this skanky stuff in it!
