Best Casino scent

Just that really. Going to a casino for a friends birthday next month. What would you wear? What should I wear? I want to go with a niche fragrance because I want to be unique among my friends (none of whom have the first clue about the existence of niche fragrances).

Feel free to either go with something from my wardrobe, or something I don't own yet. I'm just about ready to pick a new fragrance up anyway. Unless you lot change my mind, I was planning on my next purchase being Tobacco Vanille (even before I knew about this gig). Think that would fit the bill? Or maybe something else?

Just a heads up for overseas guys - one thing I won't have to worry about is trying to overpower the smell of cigarette smoke as thankfully smoking indoors is banned here in the UK. Of my current wardrobe, i'd lean towards Pure Malt I think. Not niche, I know - but not something most average Joe's will have in their arsenal either.

The floor is yours, gentlemen....

From your wardrobe, Straight to Heaven would fit perfectly

if you're lucky on the night and have some spare changes from winning at the casino, grab yourself a bottle of Puredistance M
post #9 of 61
Molecule 01 is understated and Ghost like, sneaks in and out. Will trail you and leave people wanting more, but will seem invisible to those closest to you after a moments exposure.

Tuscan Leather is a bad-A scent any way you look at it (or smell at it!)

Encre Noire seems like something a high roller would wear or smell like

GOOD LUCK choosing and playing!!

Ah yes, slight issue there - I (perhaps foolishly in hindsight) gave a friend of mine a sample of STH after I bought a bottle as I didn't need it anymore. He's pretty enamoured with it and is almost certainly going to be wearing that. I don't think he actually owns anything else!

So really, I need something that's going to outshine STH! One of the other guys ALWAYS wears Le Male, so I could do with something that's going to compete with such a beast too.

Jovan Musk For Men. Strong, cheap, a horribly guilty pleasure. Toss in some drinking and gambling and you have a complete matching set.

Puredistance M is so damn confident and sexy even the croupier will have difficulties concentrating on the game. Horribly expensive though.
Cuir Fauve from Keiko Mecheri's Bespoke-line is another (crazy expensive but) gourgeous scent.
Molecule 01 or Molecule 02 are more quiet but not less mezmerising options. (And less expensive )

Molecule 01 is not understated its just overpriced ISO super E. Thats all you get. You can make tons of it yourself for a fraction of the price.

aventus is a cologne of great prestige and power, and with great power comes great responsibility. this is not for the average hands of the timid and weak. this is only for the anointed and incorruptable.

If i want that smell i use TDH its got LOTS of it in there but with other notes for added depth and complexity. I find ISO super E (molecule 01) so one dimensional and linear.

And when did the Vegas Bond come out?

Woah, I wasn't expecting such a response! Thanks everyone (well the ones giving serious answers anyway). I have to say I quite like the idea of going with Tuscan Leather. As i've said, others in my group will be going for things like Le Male.

I think Tuscan Leather wouldn't directly compete with something like Le Male, so much as it would set me apart from it. Le Male is quite a youthful, night out clubbing type fragrance whereas in my opinion, Tuscan Leather has a maturity to it. It would probably be a mistake to try and directly compete with something so loud, obnoxious and in your face as Le Male is.

Given it's a casino and not a night club, I think it's better to go for something with a touch of class and maturity to it too.
Thanks everyone. Appreciate it. I'm about three years into this hobby now, i've amassed 90+ bottles, but I still feel like i'm crap at picking the right fragrance for the right occasion! God bless Basenotes.

When I was a big gambler, I used to wear Tobacco Vanille. Man, did that get compliments from those sitting next to me.
If you're going to confront strong designer fragances you should choose something from the montale range (red aaoud, dark aoud, blue amberr, sod...) or tom ford(amber absolue, tv, tuscan leather, black orchid...)

I think it was released for about 10 minutes back in 2010 if I am not mistaken. They have done a few of these limited edition "tributes" to other places (other than New York).

It's not for another month or so yet - i'm probably still open to persuasion! Although i'm not particularly a fan of BDP or the above mentioned Amouage Gold Man.

I did consider Aventus after the few mentions, but I tend to wear Aventus for weddings and such like, so I guess it just has a different association in my mind.

Tuscan Leather is more of a "mans man, out with the guys, being guys" kinda fragrance too me.

Casino... It would be Macassar (and European roulette 28 black, 29 black and 7 red).
Something boozy or sweetish tobacco would be good for a casino.. pure malt/pure havane/tobacco vannile to name a few.
Also, it's mandatory you watch the movie "Casino" before you go.

Thankfully, there are no "smoking sections" inside buildings in the UK now. If you want to give yourself cancer, you have to haul your stinky ass outside into the cold.

If you want to make statement go with something that has unique idea behind it, not average masculine smelling perfume, so i would suggest

montale oud cuir d Arabia:-) its gorgeous leather! But maybe you cant pull it off:-)

Then Noire epices!

Or 1740 by histories

Those are like most interesting perfumes that are masculine but you make a statement there:-) ,if you are gambler at heart you really
Cant go with ordinary stuff
Hehe

I stayed there last year & still wouldn't touch it! lol! I took Chanel P.E & Varsace Man E.F. The latter was a big mistake - eaten up by the relentless heat in minutes, thankfully the former did very well for me indeed.
