Good Morning,

I'm wearing Cuir Mauresque today. The weather continues grey but disconcertingly mild for this time of year: 10 degrees (50 F) or so. Not complaining.

Have a good one, folks.

Good morning, Foustie & all, a "dreich" day here too, although l did catch sight of the sun for an instant when l got up. Sigh.

Got a day off today, a few errands to run & maybe more spring-cleaning later, but l'm in no hurry. l've just decanted a few samples into some atomisers, so my SOTD is a delightful mixture of various animalic & incense-based fragrances, the most dominant of which seems to be Absolue pour le Soir. lt's probably just as well that l'm in no rush to leave the house!

Good afternoon!

Off to SoCal in an hour and wearing Carnal Flower for the journey. See you later!

Good morning!

Have a good trip, LadyM.

I missed you all yesterday, I had a day full of doctor appointments to get to.

A nice mild winter day starting out here, but there's a chance of snow and wind for
the afternoon. Yesterday was just gorgeous, 35 and sunny, such a nice break from
the below zero temps we'd been having.

SotD is Torrente L'Or. Notes including, kiwi, lychee, magnolia, mandarin, black currant,
angelica, iris, coffee, rose, cedar, woods, coffee bean, vanilla and white amber.
(from Parfumo)

Have a great day!

Happy trails, ladym!

Evangeline, so nice to see your usual fragrant posts! Missed you! And you smell exceptionally wonderful today!

Hope all was good yesterday, Kiliwia!

Sampling vintage L'Interdit today, paid a stupid amount for this sample. Would do it again, too! Have a great day, gang!

Good Morning (Day or Evening), everyone!

I received the package from lovely PerfumedLady yesterday and now I am surrounded by opulent cloud of Guerlain's Les Deserts d'Orients.

It's mostly Rose Nacree with a spray of Encens Mythique on one wrist and Songe d'un Bois d'Ete on the other. I won't pretend that I am not tripping on these equally opulent names but I don't mind. Rose Nacree is the most beautiful rose/oud I smelled to date. This is how I imagined Rose Oud by Kilian would smell like. I am surprised that from all oud series from other houses I tried including by Kilian, HdP (Rosam and friends), and Montale, it would be Guerlain's that would blow my mind away. Bravo, Guerlain!

Hopping on the Douce Amere love train... it's a fact: I always felt I had all Lutens sampled twice or three times in my 'career', in fact, this has escaped me (with its shift to the Paris Exclusives). Anyway, was so surprised to find it (old labels) at my favorite local store (the owner is fun to have a qualified perfume chat) that carries the Serges. I bought up their old stock (the price felt like 'old' too), which brought me a free tester.
Gosh, this stuff is AMAZING! SotE.

Larimar, Douce Amere is one of just a few Lutens that have escaped my attention and testing. I have that on my list to try!

I'm house twins with Mike today, as I've spent last night and this morning testing the entire Slumberhouse line (including the new re-formulations of Kere and Ore. These are *powerhouse* fragrances, folks. With my love of big fragrances, it takes a lot to get me to olfactory fatigue, but trying all 10 of these in 24 hours has been a bit exhausting. They are, however, very interesting.

Three of them really speak to me -- Baque, Norne, and Jeke. I managed to score a bottle of the discontinued Baque, and I'm thrilled about it. Jeke is a wonderful, masculine leather -- it's the leather I wanted Cuir Mauresque to be, with the smoke and spice more pronounced in the top and heart.

But Norne is the real jewel. This is the first green fragrance I love, lots of woods and balsam, but very nicely balanced with incense, moss, and damp earth. Just wonderful.

A 4th -- Pear and Olive -- is a complete departure from the rest of the line. It's really light and lovely, perfect for summer. The olive smooths out the sweetness of the pear and, on me, causes the fragrance to feel very clean and fresh but without smelling like laundry or white musk.

So far, we ladies don't seem to have given much attention (if any) to the Slumberhouse line -- all of the reviews have been authored by men, and most of the threads about Slumberhouse have been posted in the men's forum.

These are quite aggressive fragrances, so perhaps they don't appeal to a lot of women, but for anyone who really likes big, heavy-hitter fragrances (teardrop??), these are definitely worth a try.

Climate change has been rather kind to us. We have just a layer of pretty, white snow, yet the temps are way above normal, along with sunny skies. Shame we're not getting undroughty though. We need more precip.

Kiliwia, I hope the doc visits are all productive and positively preemptive.

Guerlain LHeure de Nuit
I sprayed this on paper last night and was repeatedly drawn to it ... heliotrope? No, its really amaretto. Yum. This afternoon I applied it to skin, and its really small in radiance. I get a hint of a medicinal note in addition to the almond. Then I was reminded of Guerlain Bois dArmenie. Dont have any of that around for comparison.

The usual rash of ???
Do I like it? YES
Would I wear it semi-often? MAYBE
Is it worth the money? PROBABLY NOT.

The original is more original, duh.
It's a bit warmer today and by the weekend we are expecting 52º!

To celebrate I am wearing Coty Muguet des Bois.
The weather here is unseasonably warm, too. I'm really worried about the drought and hoping spring does not come early. I heard yesterday that we need between 16 and 20 inches of rain (or 96 to 100 inches of snow) to break the exceptional drought that's afflicting 3/4 of my state. I hope we get more snow or rain soon.

Kiliwia, I hope today is less busy for you.

Larimar, you did get quite the haul. Very impressive.

Now that I'm done testing, SotA is SSS Fig Tree.

SotD is Blanc Violette (Histoires des Parfums).

Hi y'all!

I'm in vintage Halston Couture natural spray cologne this afternoon ...mossy, angular, drop-dead gorgeous and (yep!) long-discontinued.

Wearing Chinatown tonight.

Ooh, knightowl, I am thrilled that it's not cold, was just about to post that it is beautiful here.

Body Shop Dreams Unlimited today, I doused well enough that it's still around, if I put nose to wrist. I really do like the jalapeno edge to this, I am kind of a sucker for pepper in general, chilehead and it smells good to me in perfumes.

Another busy and long day at work: 12+ hours today. I'm wearing Helmut Lang EDP today.

White Sea by Micallef
(Thanks, socalwoman! It arrived yesterday!)

My goodness. This one is definitely different. It reminds me so much of Creed's Love in Black. that nuttiness. It must be orris root. There's definitely patchouli too. But I don't mind it.

Does it conjure visions of "sea." Hell no. But it does smell very interesting and very distinctive -- certainly not something Katy Perry would tout.
