L'anarchist is more unique, far less dated smelling, and easier to wear, but Yatagan is definitely the superior fragrance and a classic. You decide.

"Get both" is the best answer, but if you have to choose:
Yatagan is more of a powerhouse scent.
L'Anarchiste is more of a unique scent.

As I just wrote in another post, l'Anarchiste feels too modern synthetic to me, but probably will appeal more to those who are looking for a sporty clean scent. Yatagan is wonderful, arresting green, dark woods, animalics. No contest.

Yatagan will definitely stand out more than L'Anarchiste. It is one of those scents that is a MUST try. Totally unique, well constructed, and exudes power. L'Anarchiste is mediocre at best, but you wont find many people wearing it so you wont smell like every other guido in the club wearing Issey Miyake or Le Male(no offense to people who enjoy those). Ill say this: I owned both but just swapped away L'Anarchiste, but I would never swap away my Yatagan. Also, I have yet to be dissapointed by anything released by the house of Caron, everything they make is quality stuff, its just L'Anarchiste is the least appealing to me. Try Pour un Homme and Le 3rd Male too if you are feeling adventurous. They can all be had for a very good price online.

I must say I was extremely disappointed in Yuzu. Totally unworthy of the name Caron in its box

Good to know, this is the one release from them I have not tried. I have heard mixed reviews about it.

L'Anarchiste has dihydromyrcenol. I hate that stuff . . . it's cheap, metallic, and pedestrian.

Yatagan is a masterpiece. No contest.

Yatagan is a macho woody scent which you'd likely enjoy a great deal. Less versatile but very pleasurable if you like strong comfort scents which you wear for yourself.

L'Anarchiste is very light by comparison, fruity, more versatile, but not as much fun - at least for me. Still, the copper bottle is worth the price of admission and the smaller (1.7oz) is 'just right'.

I have both in my collection, but Yatagan is too heavy to me...
Bought them for a VERY reasonable price, so would never be unhappy with anyone even if I don't like them very much!

While a lot of people are saying both, the OP is asking which one.

My personal preference is both as well - as said, 'for the aficionados'. But, for the individual who is relatively new to scent (one must assume this with the question put forth, so no offense intended)...L'Anarchiste would be the safer choice and is actually a wonderful and unique creation with beauty and originality. Sorry, MonkeyBars - but, whatever lives in that copper flacon has already won my heart over...long ago! It is a great composition that has wonderful notes and allure, regardless of an ingredient that may not agree with you.

Given a choice for which is more accessible and the one you should get first - L'Anarchiste. Remember, gentleman, 'pedestrians' always have the right of way...

A question like this, with no qualifiers, is pointless. Grab samples of each off of Luckyscent and buy whichever you like more. It doesn't matter what I or joe-schmo prefers.
