Indie Perfumiers

Hey all, so lately I've been really interested in "indie" perfumiers...that is, people who are making fragrances in small batches that are not large fragrance houses. Anyway, I was wondering if there were any notable ones outside of Slumberhouse?

Aftelier Perfumes, D.S. & Durga and Anya's Garden are lines you should explore

I think Slumberhouse is heads and shoulders above the others, but I agree that these are some good suggestions. I would also add a very new one, Imaginary Authors, to the list. Also, for those who like bay rums, Ogallala is a good indie to check out.

AYALA MORIEL.She is a talented perfumer who makes high quality, mostly natural, if a bit pricey, perfumes as per her website www.ayalamoriel.com She also offers workshops, and a diploma type course in perfumery, from her studio in Vancouver, Canada.
She will also create bespoke fragrances if that is your desire.

$48 for 4 ml EdP? That's more than a bit pricey - that's ridiculous. It's a shame, too - 'cause I dig her reviews and I'm sure she's talented. Those prices, though - it just seems really, really excessive.

I didn't realize Tauer was an indie perfumier. I always thought he was pretty popular and big.

Yes, and a very different style -- Slumberhouse, that is. I've also been poking around for "indie" perfumers but I think what I really mean is "punk." Most of those others, judging by the descriptions of their scents, are anything but. Very pretty-sounding stuff, and I am not a pretty girl... Slumberhouse really hits the spot with me. You might like some of the Smell Bents, though, I agree, if you're looking specifically for a rough indie edge.

I'm interested in trying Kerosene, although most of the scents seem like they might be too heavy in problematic ingredients (dang musk) for me to wear.

I just remembered, I've had For Strange Women on my possibles list for a while, but have not yet sampled. Read a few interesting articles, though. http://www.forstrangewomen.com/
