Your 5 Must Experience Colognes?

Thread Starter
What are your 5 colognes that you think most guys should try or at least have a decant of? As a newcomer, I've been poring through lists, but most seem to make seasonal lists then split them into designer or niche. What's your top 5 must experience colognes regardless of house or season?

Citrus, Aquatic, Bitter/Botanical Green, Floral, Chypre, Leather, Mossy, Fougere, Soapy, Vetiver, Woody, Musky/Animalic, Resinous Oriental, Powdery Oriental, Fruity, Gourmand.

1. Dior Homme Intense - for a "certain" type of crowd, this hits the holy grail spot. If they like smoldering, sexy, yet metrosexual scents this one might be the one. It certainly was the holy grail when I smelled it back in the day, and lots of wasted money later, it's still at the top spot for me. Untouchable.
2. Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille - the king of vanilla, as far as I am concerned, and this may end the search for the perfect vanilla fragrance (to me this renders things like Spirituese Double Vanille absolutely obsolete, no need to waste money on that). It's also one that shatters the standard longevity barriers....potent! Versatile too...Did I mention it performs excellently and cuts through cold, and also smells divine????
3. Creed Aventus - might be perfect if you are looking for a head turner that is not your typical Bleu de Chanel. Unique, stoic, intriguing, versatile. Smells incredible. Basically, this is one BOSS of a fragrance.
4. Dior Fahrenheit - looking for a unique, masculine, a bit weird yet absolutely relevant to this day and loved by most fragrance? Look no further. I'm a sweet tooth kind of guy, but tickles the right spot. Gasoline opening, leather and flowers....springtime vibe? Are you kidding? This has it all. Smells masculine, brooding, mysterious. I'm 22, ain't nobody in my age group rocking this. Wuthering Heights allusion....Heathcliff=Fahrenheit.
5. Dolce & Gabbana Pour Homme - extremely versatile, strikes both the sexy and sophisticated, yet professional vibes perfectly. This can be a perfect signature scent, and it's also an all-seasoner. Mediterranean class and sex appeal in a bottle.

I decided to go with one example from each family under the "masculine" umbrella. The choices below are, arguably, the best of their respective families and in many cases helped to define the family to which they belong.

A SURVEY OF MASCULINE FRAGRANCES
1. Pour Monsieur* Chanel (reference masculine chypre)
2. Jicky Guerlain (reference fougère)
3. Habit Rouge Guerlain (reference masculine oriental)
4. Knize Ten Knize (reference masculine leather)
5. Eau de Guerlain Guerlain (reference citrus)

* Make sure you grab the original (not available in the United States) and not the eau de toilette concentrée. The concentrée is nothing like the original.
In no particular order:

1. Green Irish Tweed by Creed- An obvious choice, but this one offers freshness, green tones, and endless versatility. Very good longevity and decent projection.

2. Aventus by Creed- Smoky pineapple and woods. Just lovely. Good longevity and projection.

3. Sova by Slumberhouse- Like gods gift to gourmand lovers. Hay, honey, tobacco, vanilla, maple, woods, etc. A truly great fragrance that lasts 18+ hours with one spray easily.

4. Memoir Man by Amouage- Incense, pepper, wormwood. This one is amazingly good, and in my mind better than some of the CdG's and others. Monster longevity (12+ hours) and good projection as well.

5. Millesime Imperial by Creed (yes another one)- This one is summer in a bottle. Watermelon, sea salt, musk, majesty. One of the best fragrances ever conceived.

It's a Creed dominated list, but it shows my preferences. GIT would be good for anytime, same with Aventus, and Sova is the lone gourmand (though I love gourmands), Memoir Man is the night out/incense/dark fragrance, and MI is my summer fragrance.
