Eau sauvage or grey vetiver help

I have sampled both and like both for various reasons. Tom ford seems to be slightly more for my age and style but I also really like the dior. I'm 21 and although I've read that both of these are more "mature" I don't care haha. This would be for the spring and summer.

TF grey vetiver
Or
Dior eau sauvage
Decisions....decisions.

Both are great for summer.

Dior Eau Sauvage is a masterpiece and well made, but lack longevity

Grey Vetiver is also well made, wonderful for summer, good longevity (have you try Guerlain Vetiver? highly recommend)

Out of the 2 for summer, i'll go for Grey Vetiver more

Interesting comparison. I have both and recently made the same connection. They are not very similar to the nose, but both are citrus vetiver combos which are suited to Spring/Summer wear. I have wondered if I need both (I don't want a big collection).

Anyway, I think Grey Vetiver is lovely in the topnotes. It has a sharp grapefruit burst followed by the grassy green vetiver. However, I think it has terrible projection (stays very close to the skin) and also seems a remarkably formal scent to me which makes it less versatile. Wearing jeans and a shirt with this on just feels wrong to me (I must add it may seem fine to you or others!) It's a shame that I rarely wear it because when I'm in shirt and tie and can smell it (first hour or two) it's very nice indeed.

Eau Sauvage starts with a similar citrus blast, but has rosemary and jasmine midnotes (which some people find animalic and 'old man'). These midnotes are not to everyone's liking but they actually remind me of my dad (now deceased) and I find that comforting. It then moves into a vetiver with a little hint of lemon. I find it a beautiful fragrance which can be worn anytime, anywhere. As a result, I reach for Eau Sauvage much more often.

Eau Sauvage for me, but they're both lovely fragrances and you should test both on your skin if you can.

Pedro, nice detailed look at the two. I didn't find grey vetiver as formal but I haven't tried either on my skin yet. To the guerlain vetiver suggestion, I can't seem to find any sample of it or place that sells it around my area. Sephora supposedly does but the couple I have checked do not have it. I have heard it is one of the best vetivers tho. So far the edge is sauvage but a part of me likes the grey vetiver. I might just get a small bottle of both and call it a day!

Eau Sauvage is lovely and with its hedione element, even seems to have one toe happily in the modern age (thanks, Acqua di Gio). Spray a bit generously and its longevity is fine. Never obnoxious, never overly formal, but always classy. Plus, that citrus opening: damn. Thirst-quenching.

Both great and none of them "mature", they're both fresh. That said, as already mentioned, Eau Sauvage has been reformulated recently and is now much thinner and fresher, without depth. So I must vote for Grey Vetiver. In general, I find vetivers perfect for the summer, they're fresh and they last a long time.

As you also point out, there's space for both, though.
