CREED Aventus sample DISAPPOINTMENT follow-up

I posted this thread a few weeks ago: http://www.basenotes.net/threads/319...lse?highlight=

I was disappointed with the Aventus sample and awful longevity/projection. Several of the people on basenotes told me to try it again. I got some cash for x-mas and decided to purchase a full bottle. It arrived today and WHOAthis is one of the STRONGEST scents in my collection, strongest out of the CREEDs by far.

1 test spray on the wrist and I am getting strong wiffs of Aventus 4 hours in. I usually get above average projection and longevity with CREED fragrances but I have never gotten such strength off of my wrist out of any fragrance that Ive tried. I am getting the fizzy pineapple which I didnt seem to get the first time around.

I was pleasantly surprised and I am glad I gave this one a second chance. I think Ill be wearing no more than 1 spray of Aventus. Summertime I might even reduce it to a ½ spray. This is some powerful stuff and I am in awe.

I purchased it from Fragrancenet, in case any of you are wondering. But to be honest, I believe the strength of a fragrance is all about your skin chemistry and not the batch #.

A big thanks to the fragrance community here!

How many sprays do you apply in the summer and where? I am actually a little scared of wearing it in the summer after the initial burst I experienced earlier. It has been over 5 hours and I am still getting significant sillage. I feel like I'm gonna smell like this guy in the summer hahah.

Did you get any compliments that Aventus is famous for? I guess I will have to remove Creed from my "banned list" to buy a bottle of Aventus. Another few hours to research the batch number. lol

Aventus is one of the few fragrances in my collection that projects and lasts all day long 12+ hours. I've heard some things about batch variation and that other batches might not last as long or smell the same but I've smelled about 4 different batches of aventus and haven't noticed a difference yet.

I'd say 2 to the chest 1 to the wrist or 1 to the chest and 1 to the wrist. I tend to spray more than most people though

I for one have to say that I'm excited by the idea of being able to get Slim Jims, Silver Mountain Water, and a case of Pennzoil in one trip.

Glad things worked for you with that Aventus. You almost missed out on a good one bro!
I wish I could get the super projection/longevity that you are talking about. I get decent longevity but have to do several sprays. I guess it's a skin chemistry thing.

Hi bugsy, I am in the exact same position as you were. I recently bought a sample of Aventus from The Perfumed Court. I find it weak with poor projection, as if it were watered down. I can barely smell it even after 5 sprays.

Was wondering whether I should still go ahead and plonk down $250+ for a full bottle in hopes that it would be better than the dud sample I got.

Pretty risky purchase, considering you didn't like your sample! Congratulations - glad it worked out well for you! Aventus is wonderful!

I gotta admit - I thought it was a BS post myself (K-Mart selling Creed? Right!) Had to laugh when he posted the link! I would have never guessed.

Dont know why that's funny...cause its cheaper on GIT and a few others. Trying to get rid of my Aventus.

Sorry, but no they are not. Fragrancenet is @ $160 with 15% discount, comes out to $136.00 and if you purchase through ebates that is another 6% discount, making it a 21% discount for a bottom line price of $126.40 and no sales tax if you live outside of New York. K-Mart is in every state, so they will be charging sales tax on top of it.

So exactly who is cheaper for GIT?

I wore Aventus yesterday and I was amazed at the positive reaction. I got 5 compliments (4 women 1 man), 2 from complete strangers. One girl said she wanted to tell me I smelled nice but she didn't want to come off as creepy. I prefer the smell of Virgin Island Water to Aventus but I suppose the projection on VIW lacks and people can't smell it. I don't know why people find this scent so lovely. Don't get me wrong, it is very nice but not a scent I would think would cause such a reaction.

People talk about Aventus' batch variations and smoky batches and the fabled pineapple batch, tbh I haven't got a clue what batch my sample came from but the thing I love about Aventus is the wonderful and delicious blackcurrant note.

I think Aventus is a great frag.

I can only add my agreement on the strength and projection of Aventus.
I got in on a 50ml decant/split of Aventus here a while back, and it is
clearly the strongest fragrance I own now, and on par with some other
powerhouses I've owned in the past--including the legendary Bogart Pour Homme.

I normally do 5 sprays with most frags, but with Aventus, 2 or 3 is more than enough...usually 2 is plenty,
and I think in warmer weather/close quarters that 1 spray should be plenty.

Lasts about 24 hours on my skin, and weeks on clothes. I never spray on my clothes, but I've smelled
it on my shirts when doing laundry from wearing it at least a week prior.

Green Irish Tweed is also a sillage and projection monster on my skin, but nothing compared to Aventus.

I've yet to be complimented on Aventus, but that's ok. I think it smells great, and that's the main reason I wear a fragrance in the first place

Wait. Where is KMart getting their Creed from? That is just so out of left field too! Wow.
Max 2 sprays of Aventus for me. Usually I only do 1 spray to neck and I'm set. Very powerful projection and longevity. The only fragrance that's even more potent (available on me) is Platinum Egoiste by Chanel which is insane. 2 sprays and it lasts all day and stays on my clothes for a couple of days.
