Yes I know it's available, but you can't get a 2ml sample for next to nothing.
I have ordered a sample from the company even though I have never sniffed Aventus. I just wanted to smell Fresco!

Only thing I'm wary about is the potential tax which can be put in it through customs. Does anyone know what the maximum customs could charge on it to send to UK?
Interesting, not a massive Aventus fan these days but for that price and those notes would buy a bottle. Look forward to hearing how it goes.

In the interim blackberry/blackcurrent fragrances need some loving, to the fragrance directory!

In. I hope I don't get slaughtered on duty to Canada. Oh well. Whatever.

The amount of duty or taxes you may owe on an item depends upon the item's declared value. Since it's a $25 bottle of cologne we're talking about here, I think you'll be ok.

Thanks. We'll see. It wouldn't be the first time.

yeah i think you will be fine...can't wait to get my bottle in the mail!

Pennies. Honestly, change out of £30 man.

Completely agree.

Everybody raves about the Aventus' pineapple fizz, some love the smokey batch, but for me I absolutely adore the perfect twist of blackcurrant inherent.

I agree. Personally that's the part that makes it worth owning. Topnotes are whatever, but the base on Aventus is the part I enjoy.

Hype machine or not, Cool Water still doesn't seem to be considered an equal substitute for Green Irish Tweed by most GIT fans on the board, or Meharees being able to deliver up to the same standard as Musc Ravageur (at least from what I've noticed people saying).

Knock offs are fine, but I'm usually skeptical that they'll nail it.

Then again I'm not bananas for Aventus's opening, and I'm sure Fresco smells fine for $30 bucks, so no one is really losing out.

You tried Enchanted Forest yet? That's a pretty heavy blackcurrant scent (multiple aspects of it actually).
I decided to give it a try. Wanted to try Midnight in Paris, but that will probably always be $30
post #74 of 376
Just got my tracking information. Should be here sometimes next week.
I just ordered a sample off the Fresco website. Worth a shot to save cash...
Just ordered 2 samples. Never tried aventus before but if its as good as I've read and this smells exactly the same why not!?

Looking at the notes, I can definitely see how this could smell like Aventus. For $25 might be worth a shot.

It's about time too. Creed has been whipping all Aventus lovers with their inflated prices. This should put a hurt in Creed's pocket. I'm definitely getting a bottle, or 2.

I agreed. IF it smells the same why not save cash!

Well I'm in too... dammit. Snagged by the hype.

FYI- about a buck cheaper than ebay when you use the drscent.com website with the discount code COACHROB. Including shipping mine came to $31.41.

I ordered from them also. Odd that it was only thru paypal though...wonder how fast they ship?

Wait, coach Rob already has his own discount code on the website that's selling the fragrance? That seem fishy to anyone else?

Not really, seeing as about 100% of their sales are from him.

But how do they even know who Coach Rob is, let alone that 100% of their sales are generated by him?

Edit: just checked the DrScent website. They sell all sorts of fragrances, not just Fresco, so I doubt that 100% of their sales have come from Coach Rob. The coupon code has probably been in effect for a while. I'll take off my tinfoil hat now.

i live right next to ny. i should get my sample soon.
This is such weird timing. I was planning on purchasing Aventus when eBay finally collected their sales fees from my PayPal account and then this fragrance hit Basenotes hard. I think I'm going to wait this one out. Hopefully the price of Aventus on eBay drops because of this fragrance. I really don't want to support Ilum Dean since their first release showed absolutely zero creativity. But then again, I almost want to praise them for being the first company to almost clone a well-recognized fragrance...hmm...

Well obviously any group that tried to create a clone of Aventus would be quite familiar with the fragrance community. Chances are they are even reading this thread right now, as they are counting their newfound money.

Not saying for sure that Coach Robbie isn't in on this, but I don't find them creating a discount code for him all that odd.

Min New York and a lot of other companies give You Tube reviewers discount codes made for them. Would you rather pay a huge amount of money for public advertising or pay a pittance in the form of a discount code and get the same or more exposure?
I'm looking forward to this bottle. I've certainly experienced the batch variations with Aventus and much prefer the pineapple heavy, lighter/smoke/musk batch (which seems to be the opposite of most). I only had a small decant of this and it's gone. Admittedly the longevity on the batch was not as good but I preferred the smell.

It sounds like Ilum more closely matches the preferred batch... We'll see.

I was under the impression that the DrScent site was only selling Fresco and no other fragrances, like the Ilum Dean site. I edited my post.

Gotcha. I believe that the discount code did just go into effect stemming directly from the Fresco hype, for the record.

That discount code is bullox anyways. The original eBay price was $25. DrScent charges $29.95 for Fresco on their website, so with the coachrob discount, it brings it back down to the original asking price of $25.

Im about to order a bottle. Not a bad price. Hope it lives up to the reputation of Aventus.

Fortunately, the sample (2ml for $2) still ships free from the Ilum Dean site. I just ordered a sample this morning.

Let's see if this thing lives up to the hype...
Pulled the trigger on a $2 sample....man oh man, if this delivers hehehehe
post #95 of 376
I ordered the sample lastnight off the fresco website, today I get a email from their paypal saying it was shipped out. but The note to buyerinvoice said its the 3.3 size On my Emai...but charged only the 2ml sample size. Did anyone else get this odd invoice ?
lol.. I guess we'll know if this lives up to its hype based on the BN marketplace. I expect to see an overload on there soon

Yes. I'm sure it won't confuse them when they see the payment amount . . .

So yours showed they shipped you the 3.3ml also? " but ordered the vial only" Just wondering because I have had things like this before. Where ive been lucky lol
post #99 of 376
I guess we'll have to wait until Monday for 50 "first impressions" posts.

They should re-release this in a couple of months in a tall slender bottle with a paper label and a $120 price tag. It will be a hit.

Lol if they send out 3.3ml vials instead of 3.3oz bottles to the buyers, and we never hear of Ole' Ilum Deam again.
I meant 3.3 fl

they sold 91 bottles on there ebay listing, as of typing this message. Can you say all aboard the hype train! Can't wait to get my bottle next week
post #105 of 376
Just got my shipping notice. Looks like they decided to ship a 2ml sample with UPS, so I'm sure I'll get hit with a $15-20 UPS fee, great.

I would have sent you a free sample bro!!!
Thanks for offering Oupavoc! Was your bottle shipped with UPS? I figured for $2 what have I got to lose, but we'll see what happens.
No, it was shipped via USPS! Hopefully no duty
post #109 of 376
Hmm...so they're shipping samples with UPS, and bottles with USPS, ok then. Hopefully it's just a typo or something, but my receipt clearly says Shipper: UPS.

Blind buying it for sure after more good reviews!

UPS for a lil sample ?
wow. just bought a sample myself. I mean, being a creative professional i HATE IT when people straight up copy someone else's work. But if this smells just like aventus i might just have to buy a bottle of this. On a side note I have mixed feelings about the hypetrain on this one. I have aventus as pretty much my signature scent and if the hypetrain goes crazy and a whole bunch of people start buying the cheap bottle and my aventus is no longer unique that would really suck. Even worse if a year from now fresco becomes like really popular and people think i'm wearing fresco when i spent $350 on my aventus =( =(

Not to be frag-snobbish or anything. but I would be really pissed having paid so much for something and then someone else thinking that the cheapo knockoff is the original =T. on the other hand if its a good frag at a fraction of the price, as a consumer i would totally just buy the cheaper one....If i were creed though i would sue the living bejeezus ouf of ilum dean tho...lol
post #113 of 376
Cant sue...it doesn't have all of the same notes.
Bottle has been purchased. I wonder how this will compare to the smokier 2010 Aventus which I have. I have tried the more fruity versions but no longer have the samples to compare Fresco to. Anyways Ill be sure to report back when it gets here next week.

I wouldn't worry about that. Most non-BN people have never heard of Aventus, never mind Ilum Deam.
