Upcoming Birthday Purchase (Dior La Collection Privee)

Hello all. I'm looking to purchase a fragrance from Dior's La Collection Privée. I currently own Leather Oud and Oud Isaphan from the collection. The only fragrances I haven't tried from it are Grand Bal and New Look.

I've narrowed my purchase down to three which are Patchouli Imperial, Eau Noire, and Granville. I'm leaning more towards Patchouli Imperial and Granville. I really enjoy Eau Noire a lot but have so many sweeter fragrances in my collection already.

Any advise or feedback is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Granville, it is more versatile than the other two.

I own Eau Noire and like it a lot, I like the play between fresh lavender and sweet immortelle. It is sweet, but it is quite different from standard gourmand stuff. Between PI and Granville, I like both a lot, it's really a matter of what you want, a warmer, patch scent, or something fresher and more floral.

They're all nice.

Patchouli Imperial is a empirical statement that patchouli need not be expressed in that typical medicinal and earthy manner (some refer to it as head shop. Patchouli Imperial revolves around a high end prestigious ball bearing.

Granville is very nice too. An excellent rendition of the coniferous genre.

I cannot bear a lot of immortelle but if you enjoy immortelle then try Eau Noire.

I haven't tried the other two yet, but I own and enjoy Granville very much.

Patch Imperial

Hello,

I have just posted a patchouli question. Your answer is exactly what I am looking for. Patchouli base, but not a reminder of earth and medicine. Patchouli Imperial you recommend, sir?

There is some warmth in Patchouli Imperial that may be intepreted as sweetness. Since you like Eau Noire,I have a feeling you would enjoy Patchouli Imperial more than you would Granville. Either one will make a fine addition imho.

All good ones IMO.

Granville has become my summer favourite - if you like this one I would suggest going for it now because if oak moss is banned completely this year by EU then future versions will lose some of the deep green forest floor that comes with this one. I just bought a 250ml backup.

Eau Noire is one of my all-time favorites...

Thanks for the advise everyone. I decided to go with Granville this time. I'm sure I'll pick up Eau Noire or Patchouli Imperial in the near future also.

Have a great day.

Just so you and others know, rumour has that Dior will be discontinuing Eau Noire in the not to distant future. If you are a fan, best pick some up. I have yet to try it

Slurpees on youtube said it was likely to be cut from the line on a facebook group. Apparently Dior want max 12 fragrances in the Privee lineup and since Grand Bal and Oud Ispahan were introduced they're cutting Vetiver and Eau Noire. This is not 100% confirmed unless someone here can do so. I've also seen on other posts her on BN that Vetiver and Eau Noire are likely to be discontinued soon.

If true then that's very unfortunate. I do not think that Grand Bal and Out Isphan are among the best offerings of this line, whereas Vetiver and Eau Noire clearly are IMHO!

Granville and Patchouli Imperial are both so outstanding, and both very different from one another.

I enjoy wearing Granville any time I'm outdoors, especially in the spring or early fall. Its unique and stands alone compared to other green fragrances that I am familiar with. And we all know how rare and hard to find the Dior private line is. Who doesnt love that kind of exclusivity?

Patchouli Imperial is so regal and classy, so it's more of a special occasion scent for me. I will say, however, that my new favorite of this genre is now Cashmere and Patchouli of the Hugo Boss private collection. Both the Dior and the Boss versions are absolute top shelf patchouli; you cant go wrong with either.
