Les Exclusifs de Chanel Dramatic Price Increase

Just a warning that this post is probably a rant more than anything else. :-)
I was casually browsing the Chanel site yesterday and was very surprised to see what I consider a rather large price increase on the Les Exclusifs EdTs. Both sizes of EdT (2.5 oz & 6.8 oz) have jumped $20.00 in price since I last viewed them a little before Christmas. Over time I'd seen prices creep up by $5 or so on most brands, so I was really surprised at the large uptick.
Besides greed, what could cause such a dramatic increase in price?
And by the way, only the Edts saw the increase. The 4 parfum versions have remained the same for the moment.
I'm just miffed because I've been really loving exploring the range and felt they were quite well priced considering their lineage and quality.
They are getting more exclusif by the minute!

Maybe there were no advances in the item itself or change in the production that would cause an in fashion price. But the price increases to absorb the cost of other increases like something as simple as opening of more boutiques around the world. The price needs tobe aborbd somewhere right?

I bought my wife a jumbo in 2011 for $3,500. The same bag now sells for $5,000.
Some of her bags appreciating more than my watches.

Whenever I see a designer brand opening a boutique somewhere super high end like Via Condotti or Plaza 66 I predict prices going up.

Based on their quality, and compared to most niche fragrances, they're way under priced, even with the new increase.

75 mls - $130
200 mls - $230

Eh...they're still worth it. $110 seemed VERY reasonable at the time, though I'm glad I picked up everything I wanted before the change.

I heard yesterday from an insider at Chanel, a college friend of mine, and she told me that they are trying to make Egoiste into an Exclusif, but take it w a grain of salt. She likes to mess w me and knows i love Egoiste.
