Naomi Goodsir's 'Bois d'Ascese' any good?

This one sounds intriguing. Has anyone tried it? There's a perfume shop in Budapest which I've visited which sells samples but I didn't know about her fragrances until I'd left Hungary. They do post them internationally, though.

Here's the link to the Fragrantica description: http://www.fragrantica.com/perfume/N...ese-16582.html

And the shop: http://www.parfumneroli.com/

There is a thread on here somewhere where many give their impressions. I own it and love it. If you want to replicate the smell of a burning campfire or fireplace, I am hard pressed to think of anything that does it better.

Tried both from her line and love it, i'm a big fan.

Bois d'Ascese & Cuir Velours are some of the best releases from 2012

would highly recommend you try Cuir Velours.

Is it anything like Profumum Roma's Arso?

No, and to me that is a very good thing as I could not stand Arso.

Not bad. Would probably work better as a candle, room spray, etc.

Both Naomi Goodsir releases are very very good. Bois d'Ascese is very smokey, it's that wonderful campfire smell.

I'll have to add that one to my test list as I have never tried it... Considering I find Bois d'Ascese a bit difficult to wear due to its overly smoky nature, if Chamen's Party is considerably more aggressive on the smoky side it must really be a challenging scent indeed.

Having tried this now as others have said very much a campfire smell and quite similar imo to Black Tourmaline. The dry down brings through the tob and boozey notes but they were too subtle and the overall smokeyness remains albeit in quite a nice warm fashion. I would have liked to have seen the dry down mellow the smoke more and increase the tobacco and boozey notes but oh well a nice scent if you are lacking smokey scents in your wardrobe or need a non sweet scent for a cool autumn/winters eve.

Never tried or heard of it. Notes sound ok.

Bois d'Ascese = Incense woody

extract from Naomi Goodsir scent Diary, which was handmade and was fortunate enough to be given by Naomi (Thanks Naomi)

Bois d Asece 92012)

a secluded CHAPEL, BLAZING dusk, moment of GRACE, silent CANTIQUE

by Julien Rasquinet

A captivating @ reassuring smoke.
Notes of tobacco @ whisky, are supported by cinnamon, amber & cistus labdanum.
Oakmoss, smoked cade wood, almost burnt, prolong the incense of Somalia with power & elegance.

I received a sample and wrote a review of it on Fragrantica, which I'll now post here on Basenotes.

Hmm, looks like I can't post reviews here on Basenotes. How useless.

Aha, found the page and posted a review. Let's see how long it takes for it to be censored - ahem, approved.
