Ok… what the hell am I wearing ?!?

I bought two fragrances on the streets of NYC. They "fell off the truck" as they say.

They were among a lot of name-brand-fragrances, but I had never heard of these two, so I bought them both: @ $5 each.

I assumed they might be knock-offs, or whatever. I liked the way they smelled. But now*I can't seem to find them anywhere. It's like they don't actually exist!

"Black D'or" is in the Gucci Envy realm, but with less nutmeg, and perhaps some more citrus notes.

"Castle" is light and sporty, but wide in some nice places. Kind of like a big brother to Hugo Deep Blue or Nautica Competition.

But it's become a very curious puzzle. What ARE these things?

I welcome anyone who'd interested to help me solve this mystery. I can mail some blotters of each, in bags, if anyone wants to lend their nose

I think I got tetanus just from looking at Black d'Or.

Not trying to be crude, those are knock-offs. I've only seen that type of stuff in those kiosks that also sell the knock-offs like John Mac Steed and other stuff of that sort.

Black D'or is either a creative spelling of Black Door, or is a half-assed attempt at imitating Franglish (which is 'Black of Gold' in English, I supposed).

Anyway, I suppose the OP is trying to get BNers to help identify the originals these knock-offs are based on, hence the offer of blotters.

I LOVE looking for discount "unknown" fragrances, but I steer away from knock-offs. They tend not to have much longevity, and are made with questionable ingredients that make people break out in hives. If you like them and they don't turn your skin grey, you got a good deal.

No chance I put that on my skin. Most people seem very reluctant to eat at resturaunts that are dirty, regardless of how the food tastes. I wouldn't eat a piece of toast that fell on the floor even if they said "well, it probably still tastes the same!"


Yet people seem very ok with putting just about anything on their skin, and breathe it in deeply as long as it smells pretty good.

Enjoy your nearly-free "fragrances". I wouldn't think there would be any body fluids in either of those. Most likely not. Probably not. I'm sure you'll be fine. But if you start to get dizzy, discontinue use and go see your doctor, ok?

Well... I would consider them knock-offs: if you cannot find any information on them, then these are not bona fide products sold legitimately on the market, and the manufacturers are trying to make a quick buck producing designer-brand-like fragrances. Whether the juice is truly genuine or not, who can tell?

Black D'Or looks like a horrible imitation of Dior Homme. Castle kinda looks like an even more horrible imitation of Creed Original Santal.

Did they come half-filled like that? Or did you already use half a bottle of each?

Looks like those things I see in drugstores. "Our impression of" XYZ Designer Fragrance. They usually have some synonym or knock off name, but not always. Sometimes they use the original name. Like this: Instyle Fragrances.

It looks like that. Or a shadier version of that (since the unshady knockoffs usually say what they're imitating and state that it's an imitation.)
