Turtle Vetiver - Front vs Back

I have both on my arm right now.

I find Back to be a stronger rootier Vetiver than Front. It's closer to a Exercise 1 than Front is.

Front is more subdued in comparison to the two but as more complex than the two combined IMO.
Front smells complex yet seamless in composition. I smell the lactone ,moss and ambergris but neither boldly stands out. That clinical note , whatever it is, renders vetiver in a manner so astringent. It pushes vetiver to a whole new dimension.

Back on the other hand is more floral but the Vetiver persist piercingly throughout while the musk (a fecal musk masquerading as a white musk) trundles everything. The florals are playing a game of hide and seek. Subtlety at its best. Olivia Giacobetti would thoroughly enjoy this.

Thanks, Hedonist...great review.
I love the image of the "fecal" musk providing the counter play of vetiver against the movement of the forals.
Big in my book!

In my opinion at least, I can't think of a time I want something in my fragrance to smell "fecal."

Good review though. I'm not informed on the fragrances, but why are they called "Turtle" vetiver?

Personally I do not find it fecal, but everyone finds different things in different scents.

Hedonist, I found Turtle Vetiver Exercise No. 1 to that unmistakeable watery/iodine-ish note in the vetiver. Does Back feature this also? Also, I found the coconut note in Front sort of clobbered the other notes - any coconut in Back?

Sounds like you're enjoying both. Would you comfortably wear them together (layered)?

Mike, back doesn't have the iodine/clinical note like in Front but it has that coconutty ganache note.

I could wear them layered but I wouldn't. I'd like to enjoy each in its own vetrina. But one could layer them without ill effects.
