scents that change the mood to sadness

Hi guys, today i was wondering about those colognes that when come by, people around feel happyness, or romance feeling or brightness and so on.
I was wondering about a scent that make people sad , dont take me wrong here, it is just a change of sensation, something wet and dark, like a forest on mountains and cliffs on a cloudy day in a very strong rain and strong and cold wind and that is amazingly pleasant.

the first scent that came to my mind was encre noir, but its dry, it should not be dry, it should transmit mossy and cold sensation.

any ideas@

CB I hate perfume--Black March Water, smells like dying leaves basting in water (Oh death!) but *heck* it makes me happy and the imagery of early spring come to mind. (Oh tannic muddled waters, how you portend the death of deciduousness and bring forth the circle of chlorophyllic fecundity!)

Personally can't think of any scent in my collection that conjures up that which you describe.

i was reading the review about CB I hate perfume--Black March Water, and its interesting how people seems to like it, but they are not sure about it, because it bring some feelings...I think that it is the kind of perfume that i wont care if people dislike.
now i just think about a wet and cold version of sycomore or encre.

Guerlain's classic Apres l'Ondee.

Most scents associated with an unpleasant memory of almost any sort- but, the advantage of my fragrance hobby is the fact that I can never truly associate something sad with a certain and some sort of "selective memory" allows the unpleasant memories to slowly fade in the background, while starting to enjoy the fragrance again.

Breath of God
Grey Flannel

Thundra by Profumum Roma has that effect on some people.

I have always felt that Trumpers Eucris gave off a vibe of impending doom.lol

Narcisso Rodriguez For Him always gives me a 'down and out' type feeling. I mainly wear it on dark, rainy days.

+1

That one's pretty depressing. It feels lonely.

Jil Sander Man made me feel like a metal robot, and I found that kind of depressing too.

The only one I have that might fit the bill is the one by that North African designer, in the bottle that's a bit like an ice cube. (Has "snowbark" and quite a bit of cold tea tree)

# Nicole Farhi Man. I've just dug it out. Might be good in this snowy weather..

Iris fragrances seem to have a depressing effect on me.
Not really. Quite a few of the mentioned received positive comments from the gf too, unlike cosy and, one would assume, pleasing and easy to like stuff as for example Jaipur.

+2 Narciso Rodriguez for Him EDT or Serge Lutens Iris Silver Mist. Both give me a sense of loneliness.

any Clean Fresh Aquatics
Modern perfumery is doomed

+1 Narciso Rodriguez
Echoing those who say Narciso Rodriguez. To date, it's the only frag I've smelled that does this.

Bulgari pour homme Soir, Coriolan/Guerlain. Both very "gray" scents.

I searched "melancholy" on here -- not exactly the same as what you're asking, but it was interesting to see several different threads, and that many of the fragrances already listed in this thread are in those as well:

Iris Silver Mist
Apres L'Ondee
NR for Him
Czech & Speak 88
Memoir Man
Parfums de Nicolai Pour Homme

Also mentioned frequently is Zagorsk, which feels very much like what you suggested except it's completely, briskly dry.

CK one makes me feel like slitting my wrists!

Bvlgari Pour Homme Soir
Versace The Dreamer
Versace MAN

Also Bogart Silver Scent & Silver Scent Intense

+1... because someone else told me this about that frag. I've never owned or tried it.
Of the ones I do know, Salvador Dali PH definitely has a dark, maybe sad vibe to it.

Every time I travel to Seattle, I bring my bottle of Narcisso Rodriguez For Him. It's so appropriate for Seattle's weather IMO.

I agree!

I was coming here to say this. I'm hoping that with time, my opinion will change, but so far, NR has a gloom about it.

Putting aside associations and based on scent alone, I've always felt Horizon and Encre Noire had a "sad" feel to it.

Dark Aoud, while not damp, makes me feel post-human.

Vintage Ungaro III (only the vintage stuff though) has a very dark, cold, foreboding feel to it. Cuba Black by Cuba Paris has an empty, nothingness feeling to it as well.

Penhaligon's Sartorial is like a distant memory interpretation of a classic fougere.

Not a men's perfume, but L'heure Bleue gives me the blues . Also Channel Antaeus makes me somewhat depressed.
Eau de Gentiane Blanche always passes me an image of freezing cold in my soul, a sadness that surpasses me.
Bogart One Man Show sorta does it for me. I have now tried Narciso Rodriguez for Him, and don't consider it quite as gloomy as many say. OMS is worse, at least to me.

Le labo rose 31
Encre noire

Though I love patchouli in all its iterations (excepting those blends with too much vanilla), I tend not to wear any patch-dominant fragrances in rainy weather. There's just something about that weather/ingredient combo that numbs me emotionally.
