Do you ever stop to ask strangers what scent they're wearing?

There is a men's cologne that I've caught a few times As strangers have walked passed that I really like. I've tested many scents in my quest to find it. I was wondering if basenoters ever pluck up the courage to ask strangers what they're wearing when they smell something irresistible?

Not a problem bro. If there is a frag someone has on and you like it, just compliment by saying " That fragrance you have on smells nice. What is that you have on?" You will be surprised how people like the compliment and are anxious to let people know what fragrance they have on. At least most basenoters do!

Personally don't ask other people what they're wearing.

I ask. I've found it's really easy to make somebody's day by letting them know they smell fantastic.

No reason at all not to ask someone that I can see. Are they going to be offended that you like their fragrance? Don't think so.

Never have. Probably never would.

Besides, if I think it smells nice enough to ask, I probably already own it, or will soon anyway.

I have many times. I don't feel awkward doing so. In fact, the stranger is often happy to answer someone who is providing him/her with an unsolicited compliment.

Thanks everyone for your contributions. May I ask what scent you are wearing today? 😊

I feel like anyone wouldnt mind being asked. As noted before, would probably make their day.

Never did it so far and probably never will, yet was tempted quite a few times to do it.

Women, always whether they are friends, co-workers, or family.. i tell them they smell nice, IF they do. I don't ask who/what they're wearing, because I don't care.

Compliments go a very long way.

might I add that I'm in my mid twenties and flirtatious.. So like I said compliments are always good..

Nope!

I never have, but I would if I was truly interested in the scent they were wearing.
Where I live, most males wear after shave, or, at best, something like Le Male
or Acqua di Gio--not that there's anything wrong with that.

I've never smelled a male in my area wearing anything like Egoiste, or Tiffany for Men,
much less a "niche" scent. Nothing I've been interested in knowing about at any rate...

I will say this though, I think in the future I will be more forthcoming with females
who I think smell "good." I don't have nearly as well rounded a knowledge of women's
fragrances as I should, and that could be easily remedied by simply asking what a fine smelling
woman/girl is wearing.

If it smells good on a woman I always ask, most likely even if she's ugly.

So far only with women that I know. I'm working on asking more broadly. It'll depend on a number of factors I suppose.

no way, you could be misunderstood and mistaken for...

I have asked a young lady waiting in front of me in a queue before. Nothing creepy about it, as long as you know how to ask. She even smiled broadly at me.

It's how I found Molecule 01 and a few others. Glad I asked because I never would have guess M01.
