CdG Avignon or Zagorsk?

Hi there, has anyone tried both Avignon or Zagorsk? Which do you prefer?
Never tried either of these.

Hi Fragmeister,
Of the two, I personally prefer Zagorsk. However, after sampling the entire incense series, in the end I decided to get Jaisalmer!
Zagorsk would be the next choice for me. It is an evocative scent.
It's a very interesting and artfully done line and really, all of them are good but I'd say sample first.

Avignon, but I like Zagorsk too and would be happy with full bottles or decants of both.

I currently own a bottle of Avignon and I also considered a bottle of Kyoto. Zagorsk wasn't full bottle worthy IMO.

I own Avignon (from a swap) and enjoy it. But I find Zagorsk's greener profile suits me better. Why don't you try them both?

Avignon of the two.

Zargosk, I'm not into the churchy smell

Of the incense series, in terms longevity and sillage, Jaisalmer is by far the best, followed by Kyoto, then Avignon and then Zagorsk.

They're both very nice. Cant choose between the two.

I love and own both. That said, if you prefer a warmer and darker take on the liturgical incense, go for Avignon. Otherwise, for something freezing and dark green, definitely Zagorsk.

I prefer Avignon's musty-but-fresh sense-calming effect. Zagorsk is way too bitter IMO.

Avignon

I have Avignon, very nice. Reading this thread, I want to try Zagorsk too, methinks.

Edit - Reading the reviews, it seems to lack stamina though.

Avignon. I own it and Quarzazate.

Relatively speaking, Zagorsk came off as a little cold/ashy.

I'd definitely sample both. Then again the whole series is worth a spin.

Avignon - It is noble, true and inspiring, very "Joan of Arc". Zagorsk is too "Hansel and Grettel" - it can be scary if you get lost in the woods.

Zagorsk

I have to concur with with Alfarom said above...as they are different.

However, my friend DuNezDeBuzier is spot on - sample both. I, personally, find something unique and beautiful in each of the CdG Incense series. It is one of, if not, my favorite line/collection of scents ever produced by the house. The whole series is most definitely worth a spin.

Thank you, DuNez!

Cheers,

ericrico

I tried and like them. If you are a collector, you will probably end up owing both eventually. I don't own any because they are not very versatile IMO. I would also suggest to sample first if you have not.

Avignon is one of my 3 favorite incense fragrances. Despite its limited versatility.

Zagorsk is my favourite from the series. I like all the others bar Jaisalmer.

Both are very good, but I believe it is easier to find other fragrances similar to Avignon than it is for Zagorsk. Zagorsk is "more unique".

If you want to thin outside the CdG box then Montale Full Incense is what you want!

Thanks for all your comments. I'm doing a swap with someone on Basenotes for a sample of both Avignon and Zagorsk. I find Montale a bit too heady for my liking. But then again, maybe I haven't tried enough of them.
