Could not smell Dior Homme...anyone else have this problem?

I went to two separate places today and sampled Dior Homme and Dior Homme Sport. On each occasion I could not smell the Dior Homme, and neither could the SAs - on paper or on my skin. Surprisingly the Sport was very noticeable.

What is up with the Dior Homme? Basenoters generally seem to love it. I have not read much about people not being able to smell it.

Anyone else have this experience with DH?

As an aside, I ended up buying a bottle of Fahrenheit - OMG is it incredible. Finally I have found something that has really captured my interest. Then again, my Fresco is still en route...lmao.

I find I either fatigue very easily with this one or the longevity is not very good. I get 4-5 hrs. It's a great scent when I do smell it though.

Personally have never had this problem that you speak of.

Damn! One squirt, pretty much anywhere, and I smell it. It practically salutes me.

Olfactory maybe?

This is very odd. The DH line is hard to miss after applying.

Probably olfactory fatigue, I find it quite potent. On the side note Fahrenheit is a fantastic fragrance, congrats!

Which did you put on first? I had no problems, even got a sample of DH and tested it out at home...then got the bottle when I heard it's being reformulated.

Thanks for the responses.

I have broken my nose numerous times. It is filled with scar tissue plus I have a deviated septum. On top of that, I'm getting old fast.

But that doesn't explain the SAs not being able to smell it either. Nor does it explain why I can smell all the other frags (except La Nuit's top notes).

Oh well. One less thing to buy I guess.

Yeah, DH is a modern powerhouse. Hate to hear about your trouble.

Is there anyone in the region who is extracting iris/orris root on a large scale such that it might be a background smell that is being tuned out? DH's initial notes are heavily iris toned. I'm thinking lipstick manufacturing but it might just be a chemical factory that works for the cosmetics industry. Growing up in New Jersey long ago, I'm pretty sure my nose was desensitized to a few things at the time.

Glad I'm not the only one. I tried it at Sephora earlier and couldn't smell anything for a good 10 minutes. I picked up on that lipstick (iris) note 15 minutes later though.
